WG keeps adding these historical and copy paste/kit bash ships is because WG does not have the proper devs to make any new models ever since they split from Lesta in 2022. We’ve gotten almost 0 new models since the split; Bungo line was the last line that Lesta made, everything else is copy paste. They don’t do it because they’ve run out of ideas, they do it because making historical ships is the only way to get out of controversy. Even then, you still have moments like the Tennessee devblog where it had California’s hull number, showing they just copied the model. Every new premium is just a reskin and it probably won’t change anytime soon.

This, and the other thing is that they're getting to the point where actual ships that fit the game model are getting rarer. Once you get to the latter part of the 1950's, you're talking about missile ships, jets on aircraft carriers, etc., all of which causes conniption fits whenever something like that gets mentioned.

To be Honest Wargaming had the option of filling out the lower tiers for the Pan-American Battleship tech tree with these ships: Tier 4: Rivadavia, A class of Battleships built in America for the Argentine Navy. Armed with TWELVE 305mm guns in six Twin turrets, and a Massive Secondary battery of twelve 152.4mm guns and sixteen 102mm guns. The ship was Unique in that it had Two Super firing pairs of twin turrets on the bow and stern, but it also had TWO wing turrets with one on each side in a Kaiser layout. Tier 5: One of the alternate designs for the Brazilian Rio de Janeiro class battleships that sacrificed the larger number of 305mm guns for fewer, but more powerful 356mm guns. Tier 6: Almirante Latorre, a Chilean Battleship equipped with 356mm guns, but had only an inch thicker main armor belt of 230mm (9 inches) from the Rio de Janeiro's 229mm. The Ship is visually similar to the Iron Duke, but with two funnels and a different layout of the Secondary battery. The ship would be requistioned by the british and would become HMS Canada during WW1. Tier 7: Battleship Riachuelo, the Last Brazilian Battleship design that was also the most Powerful Battleship ever designed by Brazil. The Riachuelo's were very similar in design to the Queen Elizabeth class Battleships, but were slightly more armored, and were lighter in terms of displacement. The Ship was distinguishable from the Queen Elizabeth's as the Riachuelo's had TWO funnels instead of just one like the Elizabeths, and were 19 feet shorter than the Elizabeth's length wise. All these ships still had massive Secondary batteries of 152.4 mm guns and they would fit in well with the massive Secondary battery Gimmick of the Pan-American battleships, but just toned down to make them on equal ground with lower tier ships.

This Whole almost 14 minute video and not once was it brought up that during the Lesta/WG separation, Lesta pretty much kept the majority of the art department. Goes without saying we'd get a bunch of copy paste ships for awhile while WG builds up their own art department. One can't just throw together a brand new top to bottom art department and begin working on and pumping out lots of brand new high quality models in no time... These things take time (initial research/model rendering/play testing). Keep in mind all the events and ship line releases are road mapped and begin development several months ahead of time if not over a year. It's clear that WG still had some Lesta assets left that had not been released before the separation and since then have been carefully drip feeding those assets to hold over the player base until their independently developed lines and models have completed development and approach their road mapped release period. Also, pretty sure the game engine is set to change iirc, so i'm sure they're working behind the scenes on that as well..

There is enough designs to make at least two German Panzerschiffe lines from tier 6 to 10, one with 11 and 12-inch guns, one with 15-inch guns. There is at least another line of German Battleships that could go from either 6 or 7 to 10. I've sketched a German Large Cruiser line from 6-10, leaving out the Panzerschiffes entirely. For the USN, I was able to dig up enough designs for a Battlecruiser line, a Large Cruiser line that started with the ARCs and ended with the Alaska prelims. There is an entire line of CLAA that could be built, with a split included, though I designed that before Pan-American and Pan-Asian cruisers were announced, so there would either need to be tweaks or repeats with differencing mechanics. There is also the possibility for a 10-inch armed cruiser line, though some of the earlier hulls could be similar to what we have, since the USN had plans to turret swap double 10-inch guns onto three-gun 8-inch barbettes, if the need arose, and tier 10 would definitely need to be a fantasy design. There is a line of 4 turret 8-inch cruisers that could be built, as well, which would trade armor for volley weight. At least one Battle Cruiser/ Battleship Cruiser line is available (Battleship Cruisers were wild designs, btw). Battle Scouts are another quirky line that could be made (I'd class them as Cruisers in-game because they are a handful of big guns strapped to enormous engines, and basically just enough steel that it's hydrodynamic). As for DDs, there is enough for a pure gunboat line, and most of a torpedo focused line, with some WG Fantasies to close some holes. IJN has enough at least two Battleship lines, an All Forward line (which would include Izumo, with an appropriate replacement in the Yamato Line), and Quad Turret Line, both starting at tier 6. I was fairly close to making third line, which was Secondary focused, though research into Japanese ships is a bit harder and more time consuming for me to do. As for the French, I was able to do a standard CV line, as well as a secondary-focused CV line.

My dad actually was on a New Mexico class Bb in WW2, the Mississippi which would be a sentimental addition. A Fargo class CL, I guess they added the Rochester for the Oregon city class. A few option

The trouble with copy and paste ships is, unless you gimmick them up, they're the same as the original, which leads to massive gimmicking and seriously unreal performance on newer ships, which leads to even greater gimmicks on the next batch of ships, and so on, etc. Clones with minor differences lead to clones with greater differences which lead to clones with insane gimmicks so the player base will buy them. However, since that pretty much started with the first update, it's way too late to change it now!

Careful what you wish for. During WWII, and after, the US Coast Guard gets folded under the US Navy banner. US Coast Guard had dozens of their cutters used for convoy escort, coastal patrols, and submarine hunting. I haven't seen any of those in-game yet 😊

I am excited about Blucher. And seeing how WG made Wisconsin a fun ship, I hope we see some tweaks to make Blucher fun and interesting at a higher tier. As for the big picture, I would rather see interesting takes on sister ships, or some ships that at a minimum had their keels laid, than some completely made up BS that WG can't even point to a Plan Z or something similar for the concept.

There are plenty of real ships not in the game, but most would be in the T3-7 range. So they wouldn’t get a lot of return on the art time invested. And WG probably has other unreleased non-WOWS projects on the go which require a lot more artist time to get off the ground. I have no problem with adding a few more sister ships such as Washington, Prince of Wales, etc. Would also like to see more WWI British BBs.

IMHO, there are plenty of designs or real historical ships that haven’t been added (sister ships or side grade ships that we have in the game). However, many of them have to be slotted at mid tier (between V and VIII). So, they can’t make much money off them. Nevertheless, I don’t lose the hope we’ll see some of them added in the near future. Merry Christmas.

In a way wg has the problems of a digital car manufacturer. There are only so many classes of vehicles you can produce in so many varieties and like Seaford says it does cost money and time to create a new ship. So why completely redesign the Toyota Corolla from the group up every time you want to make a new variation? OK Bucher is pronounced Bloo-kr according to Google and Wikipedia. Bucher was a Prussian Field Marshall who led the Prussians at Waterloo against Napoleon. Also in the "African Queen" Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn were captured in WWI Africa and taken aboard the Bulcher (not the same one). But Bogart also pronounced it "Bloo-kr". Also "Patrie" is also pronounced "Pat-ry" not Petrie - he was Rob Petrie of the Dick Van Dyke show. Wikipedia: "Patrie (French "fatherland") or La Patrie (The fatherland)" The root is Latin "Pater" the word for "father". Lastly, I've been playing WOWs since 2017. I have collected 569 ships. And WG do sometimes get these right; Huron is a great little ship despite being a Haida copy/paste and then tweaked. historical ships are one thing, but when WG brings out fantasy or design study ships, they can go more creative. Take Niord, why not basing it on different design study? What makes me really angry is, when they bring the same og ship twice into the game, like Scharnhorst / Scharnhorst '43 or West Virginia / WV 44. I mean, WV had sister ships, why not make use of USS Maryland or USS Washington? That's lazy. I guess, WG puts more money and people into their new tank game development, they don't care much about WOWS anymore. Besides milking it more and more.

I would like to have option to switch between upgradable ship modules and seeing those changes immediately. Now you have to switch and then go ship module at port to see the change.👈 Typical change is in AA equipment, some ships are getting different gun turrets, rarely some are getting even different torpedo colored caps in torpedo racks 😅. But for my historical desire - submarines getting nothing - Bo conning tower change, radar antenna, deck gun or or open torpedo tubes - torp cap change. Subs are getting usually torpedo upgrade or sonar. I know subs are most hated class ingame (probably bit more unpopular than CVs) - I don't like their mechanics too. I believe WG spent all development resources on said mechanics and saved on design. To be fair - subs look great under water and surface and even sinking ship animation from sub perspective is great.👍 WG - just don't spam me with all T5-7 ship from Santa Mega crates - got 15 from 16 missing left and only 1 in best group and its T61. No Alaska, JB, Massa or so. I got 2 out of 3 golden crate ships but on PTS 😅 only. Well I can't complain - 180d prem is nice drop and I can live even wo those most sought ships. ❤

its interesting you descibe commonwealth navies as having 'hand me down' ships. some were actually built for those navies not the Royal Navy. the same is true to some extent still sometimes. if you develop ships and then build some for your navy, then you lost money on the deal. you at least could sell versions of those ships to foreign nations with no shipbuilding capability to cover the running costs for the navy. so i dont think blucher is a copy paste anymore than any ship type is. tom clancy had it right when a character in Red Storm Rising comments that the more you build of a type, the more you make changes; part from experience to improve building efficiency and make improvements that make the ship better. but the hull is pretty much the same shape even if slightly shorter/longer/wider/narrower. and all ships are obsolete by launch, let alone by the time they are outfitted and pass sea trials to be commissioned. that was true from the time of the american civil war onwards but really took off when the admiralty commissioned Dreadnought into service and ordered more, which was such a game changer it made the other navies not just obsolete but so far behind you could barely see them. unfortunately it was also one more step in the arms race and tensions that led to world war 1.

The perma camos would be better if they used the historical camos that the nation used. (sure some ,like the IJN, were limited) How many of each class the ship has been in the dockyard? I hope the Blucher performs better than the historic one. (sunk by shore mounted torpedo launchers that captain know about. WG seems to love to pick historicaly popular ships and make them not so good, to put it mildly.. WG's model seems to be based on adding ships to make money. They probably are looking for other ways. They tried adding a new ship line, subs, but the implimentation crashed, burned, exploded and left a hazmat residue that is sickening or killing players today. (for giggles, give the more modern ships, especially DDs ASROC (a shorter ranged rocket launched MK46 homing torpedo) or hegehog and squid for the older ones. Maybe they given ships more effective guns against subs instead.
