Was hating the grind with this thing myself... until Asym came around. Asym made me appreciate just how tanky it was and the power behind those guns. Speed felt like less of an issue there too. Grinded out all three tech lines in it during last winter's asym. That's another thing with the Colorado though, you have three battleships tech lines to unlock through it.

That was my biggest gripe about it. I won a lot of battles with the Colorado, and I never thought it was a bad ship overall. Yeah, I was frustrated with the speed, but you can learn to work with it. And you will learn to work with it, because grinding through the tech trees means you're going to play it a lot.

The best way to grind the Colorado is to division up with a group of people and do the Narai op. She might also do well in Killer Whale, the one where you defend the naval base, and rescuing the Ranger..

I have division with my friend who play Colorado be4, defensive op. is enjoyable, offensive op. is a bit challenging but it's still a good time. escort operation isn't my friend always lacking behind fleet and neither got cought up by enemy alone or too slow to provide any support to convoy (or both), It's extremely frustrating to grind and my friend said he would never play that ship again

The worst grind for me back in the day was not the Colorado. It was the Izumo before she got buffed. The original Izumo was about the worst BB in the game. It was so bad that she was the only ship I gave up on the grind with and just used free XP (which was harder to get back in the day) to get the Yamato which was so much better in comparison.

Holy shit, that was my first BB line. I CURSED SO HARD. I had to free xp it. And honestly even tho i have a good winrate in Yamato I never got that good with it. I have Ohio and Wisconsin and Massa and those are my favorite BBs now.

I first built the Fattleship to be a surprise secondary special ship that I played for the giggles. When I got to the NC I realized that while slow and bumbling the CO was special. Rebuilt her as a proper ship slapped a decent commander on her and would play the CO when I was nostalgic for non-tier 10 games. I really enjoyed her then. Nowadays she has one of those enhancement packages, one the few ships in Port that's not a premium that has camo, and I play her when I miss that slow, fat girl. Max range is not your friend, but there's a sweet spot just around mid range that the guns work for me. I can't say I love the CO, but she's one of myy favorites.

I didn't overly mind Colorado when I played her, and she is one of the stronger T7 BBs, but when your competition is things like Lyon that even with having access to dispersion mod can't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside, and Gneisenau that has the same base dispersion formula but only 6 guns, Caracciolo with smaller guns and worse accuracy purely because she has SAP. Really the only T7 BBs that could be argued are stronger in the tech tree are Nagato, with her more accurate 410mm guns that have an ever so slightly faster reload, and Sinop because she's a T7 BB with armour. That's not to say Colorado is an amazing ship or anything, just that most tech tree's the T6/7 is the pain point of the line. I would argue as a grind Colorado is currently the worst purely because you need to stick with her for 3 lines if you want all three American BB lines without using free XP. Also I feel I should note 406mm don't make a huge difference when fighting T7 and lower BBs, you only need 380mm guns to over-match 26mm and that's the bow/stern plating of basically every T7 and lower BB. Finally I will add, I don't really care for any of the American BBs below T9. Without a dispersion mod they just feel like playing the Germans without the bonus of having secondaries. Sure they have better sigma, but both nations share the same dispersion formula, so while the Americans will tend to land closer to the centre, the Germans can simply have a smaller circle thus making things land closer to the centre that way.

Back when I was grinding all of the early BBs, the grind was bad, but the Japanese BBs did get some improvements over time. Fuso - back in the day had A, B, C hull, and the A hull had no range, there was a massive bump in range installing the B hull. But that A hull, shorter range than the tier V BB, and many cruisers - WG removed the A hulls for ships with 3 hulls, and things got way better. Nagato - was just ugly, no range (might have had 3 hulls too), always uptiered (before SuperShips was a thing). I spent most of the grind being dead, spotted by DDs, then ripped apart by BBs with 10km+ range on me! Colorado was just solid, but depending on which way you decided to go, you were either having a pleasure cruise with nothing to shoot at, or a really exciting couple of minutes.

Colorado with speed flag and Brisk skill help a lot. And I am finding the Montana line one of the better for regrinding RB points in terms of having fun redoing the line.

My US BB line ground was very 1st tree I had, so much time has passed. But I would like to mention easiest part of one tree grind: I grinded whole progress from. Implacable to Audacious in exclusive 3vs3 T8 CVs. It was absolutely best ever brawl I remember. It was common take down 60-90 planes and get 2-3K BXP if won. Crazy entertaining.

I remember during the early days of open beta with a BB you could see a 3 tier spread at times. It was rare... but imagine a frigging yamato shooting at the old A hull Colorado (basically the tier 6 WV). Thankfully that rarely happened, and only cause hardly anyone had tier 10s at the time.

I have always believed the Colorado to be one of the very best T7 ships. Outstanding range, great penetration, good accuracy, decent armor. The biggest problem is speed and if you can understand map placement and being where you need to be that really isn't a lot of a problem.

Soviet BB line is a lot of fun for me: hunt broadsides, play more mid than flank, and never let a red BB get a clean broadside shot on you. If you get focused, just stay bow in and back away until dark. Fire is the enemy.

Colorado is a solid ship these days. It had it's issues back in the day. But I still didn't think it was as bad as everyone thought it was. It's like the Zieten in my mind. If you're expecting to play it like the rest of the German BB's. You're going to have a bad time. If you play the CO like the rest of the American BBs. You're going to have issues as well.

Really felt that twin gun dispersion yesterday, BB giving me broadside at 10km, and after two salvos no citadel and like five pens. Still like her, Colorado-class looks amazing and the low speed makes you feel like a battleship despite being a detriment I think she's balanced at Tier VII, overpens hold her back so that she isn't overpowered

I have the Colorado, and am grinding it for the first time, now. It's either good, or horrific. And right now, I'm in a horrific struggle to find my game. I'll have to grind it twice, but not 3 times, I don't care about the hybrids. The Mahan is wrecking me though. I started winning fairly regularly in the Farragut, got the Mahan and can't buy a win most of the time.

I just got the WV 44, a similar BB to Colorado. But with Brisk, the slow speed doesn't quite mess you up as badly when alone on a flank and running away - a big problem badk in the day with Colorado. And the guns are more accurate. WV 44 slaps.

Laughs in EARLY Japanese cruisers. I am looking at you single barreled turrets on the Furutaka. Colorado was probably my most played battleship, if I remember correctly. The thing with the Colorado was if you hit you actually did decent damage. You couldn't really say that about the earlier models of the Furutaka.

I actually picked up this game again 2 weeks ago, grinded american BBs, I'm now at the North Carolina and halfway in XP to the next tier. I didn't really mind the Colorado? It was a fine grind. I actually find the North Carolina a bit more painful because of constantly being put on tier X games. I just feel like the matchmaking isn't fun at all, but the ships are mostly fine.

My experience with the Italian battleship line is it is all terrible until you get the Colombo. If not for the test server and me saying "screw it, I will just use 2 or 3 free XP and get the Colombo just to see what it is like" I would have just given up. But yea. Colorado. I had to grind it once because of the Montana line. I got Kansas and Nebraska in early access. By the way - Kansas. It was almost as painful. Remember it was buffed, so it was even worse. But it was my only higher tier battleship when I got it, so guess what I played. I liked the hybrid line, that one was not at all painful.

I hate the turtle ships, but interestingly enough when I was new to the game the USN turtle line (was only up to Colorado back then) I had great win rates with. This made no sense to me as I hated them so much, then I figured out they were so slow I could not make my usual overly aggressive positioning errors.

I skipped the grind - I used what free xp I had (4-5 million) to skip New Mexico and Colorado. Ironically the Colorado holds the 6th of free XP (holding 2.2 million Free XP out of 35 million total) due to Operations.

To be honest y’all, I never grinded a tech line other than German cruisers. A week or so after buying the game I got the tirpitz. I wanted to play high tier, that’s all of what got me attracted to the game. Playing some of these low tier ships is just so miserable. Especially low tier bbs.

Other than having less guns and less effective range (slower shell velocity). I don't find Colorado to be that bad tbh. There nothing faster than her in the line before her. So the speed doesn't feel like an issue to me. Only negative thing(s) I have to say about her is that you need like 400k exp on her to unlock everything with her. And that slower shell velocity was a bit annoying because had to learn to shoot again :P

All I did for this grind is just pay up 200k+ free exp for Kansas and Nebraska and "legitly" grinded up for North Carolina. Didn't have to suffer the painful grind of poor matchmaking and unskilled players.

So far my biggest struggle has been American heavy cruisers. Their range is absolutely pathetic, even less than the American light cruisers. Even with a ship completely broadside I bounce 70% of my hits each match or get lots of overpens. Their reload is trash until you get to the end of the teach tree. It has been rough. I have only made it to Baltimore so far and it has been a struggle compared to other cruiser lines I’ve grinded.

You know out of all Dreadnoughts out there. New Mexico is by far my most hated ship in the game. I felt like Fuso is better in every single aspect. Fuso can deal with >400mm shells. Doesn’t have vulnerable Citadels on both offense push and defense kite. Fuso guns felt more consistent than New Mexico. Have better range and better speed. I never praised New Mexico at all, she is just horrible ship to play. New York is fine. Wyoming is utterly hit or miss. South Carolina is meh. Colorado is actually quite enjoyable tbh. I felt like her guns are much more consistent than Nagato. Sure, she don’t have Super Heavy Shells and good speed. But Colorado is pretty much the best Dreadnoughts out of all US Dreadnoughts. No, Vermont line are not for me considered a Dreadnoughts. They are Tillman. Colorado is fun but also even better with West Virginia. Very tanky ship, fun to play at times. New Mexico is just out right bad. Kiting away = Dead. Her rear armor was a real Citadel Bait. What? I like ships with flaws okay, because it never gets me bored. Unlike entire Russki Techtrees. Like seriously, a Russian BBs are almost flawless that I fall asleep mid match.

Does she really have 2.0 Sigma? No wonder her shells are so consistent. Still the actual "accuracy" of the shells is worse then I remember when I first played got to her all those years ago. Still she CAN hit the broadside of a barn, but the shells tend to bracket ships long or short alot of the time vs all of them slamming into said broadside. Her lack of speed I do see as a good thing for newer players, keeps your form over extending. Plus, what she lacks in speed she makes up in maneuverability. Thanks to the Short/Fat Hull of the US dreadnaughts Colorado can TURN shocking well and shocking fast, especially compared to the North Carolina and her successors which have Rudders who I swear are RUSTED to all hell with how SLOW they move. When Angled she is quite TOUGH, although you really want to use the SIDE of the ship since the extremities are still 25mms and thus can easily be overmatched by higher caliber AP. Although she does tend to EAT pens alot for whatever reason, still she is by no means easy to Citadel less you aim VERY LOW in the water.

The classic examples of worst BBs per line are ships like SoCar., Col., Myogi, Izumo, Monarch, FDG. However individual stinkers aside nothimg beats the hell that is the Italian BB line. I don't have too many good memories playin that whole mess and Chrid Columbus was not worth it imho. Honestl I think the best Italian BB besides the Steel one is probably just the Napoli. Its not even a BB!

Yep, Colorado is just garbage... i wonder if they will ever buff or replace her. Her Guns are average, her speed is shit, the concealment is terrible and the armor is just okish. She could be T6 to make the split sooner, just nerf her heal a bit and the penetration of the guns (like Mutsu). I get more and more games, where i am bottom tier and there are only 1-2 of us, for example T7 in T9 and only 2x T7 per team, i wonder if the matchmaker got too much vodka. 13:30 awww yes, the new US CV line, the CVs without a citadel...

Your comments about C Hulls are double edge sword. Yes it allows you to grind through faster BUT, it eliminates you playing more games as you speed your way to tier X thus putting players who know squat about this game in higher tiers thus creating more and more ROFLSTOMPS and bad game play.

I mean... technically German dispersion, without any sort of dispersion mod, painfully slow, no armour to speak of due to being a T7 BB and being covered in 26mm armour. Yeah she's kind of bad. Though to be fair outside of Nagato and Sinop all the tech tree T7 BBs are just kind of bad. That's not to say when top tier some can't be fun, or even good, but they need to be top tier purely because of the power gap between T7 and T8.

@@sealordmountbatten Yes, but if you're talking about a historical king and say "his highness" 300 times without changing it up to 'him' or 'the king' or so forth, it sounds so strange. Yes, everyone who plays the game knows ships are sometimes referred to romantically with "she" because of old-timey sailors. You can still say "the boat" or "the ship" or "the vessel" or "it" or etc. Vary it up chief.
