Got Tennessee out of a crate yesterday and took her out for a spin. I currently live in Arkansas, but work in Tennessee, so when someone in CHAT asked, "Hey, how's Tennessee?" My reply was, "Crime sucks, but the BBQ is pretty damn good!" Thank you! Thank you! I'll see myself out.

The reason it's only 20 kts is because those big humps the 5" guns sit on hide a pair of paddle wheels - it doesn't have propellers it's a side-wheeler 😅🎉

I love this ship. Slow as hell but I like hitting everything I aim at. Even at long range. Everyone is always way ahead of your so u almost never get shot at. It is really not a ship for inexperienced players tho, but it helps you learn how to aim if you don't already.

I had a confederate and high caliber, and 4 kills in my second game with her, and I had only been shot at twice all game. She's slow as a real turtle, and if you touch the rudder at all, she's slower. 😂😂

I'm grinding this out for sure. I'm old enough to have grown up around WW2 vets. Family friend J. McDonald was a jr. officer on Tenn., Dec.7. Latter, AA gunnery officer on Essex. Now, I'll have both. Does seem weird that with this ship people consistently OVER lead the ship.

Sadly when I was using a CV in the escort mission for Ruon in Operations everyone, literally every NPC and player ship left the Tennessee behind. Then in another operation the defend the base from multiple waves while escorting the Des Moines pretending to be CV Lexington one. That Tennessee pushed out too far beyond the boundary line trying to get close enough to shoot his guns. Sadly no other ships were able to support him and he foundered not long after even with me and others telling him to get back. That mission AA is a pain, don’t expect CVs to cover you from making foolish mistakes like that.

Take that long range mod off the ship, use the spotter plane. Take the turret rotation off. And run brisk. Played it all night and had 100k plus avg games through ten games. Kept up with everyone almost with brisk and concealment.

You are spot on, the base range and the spotter work just fine. Anything to help with turret rotation on this ship is mandatory.

I have all the ships offered in this event, with the exception of the Tennessee. I plan on grinding through the event regardless of whether it pops out of a box or not. Tempted to buy it outright for the huge influx of flags and bonuses you get.

Thanks Sea Lord, nice review. After getting disappointed by the "accuracy" of Kansas i`m sure i`ll love the Tennessee, i`ll get her for free. Colorado, West Virginia 44 and California are my tier 7 "snails" and they`re ok for me. Yes, California sucks sometimes with her dispersion, but all those snails are good when it is a standard battle with 1 base per team. If some opponents push to cap the base, i`m there or close enough to ruin someones day. At this point, those ships perform great. For sure Tennessee is a great counter against Ipiranga which has weak armor and any cruiser showing a little too much side.

@@clmwrx Yes, she`s a battlecruiser, not a tanky BB. Fast, but at the price of less armor. Sometimes i can shoot a few cits on her with the small AP rockets of Aquila. One game i had a 30K salvo on a broadside Ipiranga - with my Fuso at 15 - 16 KM range. Had 3 random battles with my Ipiranga and always ate much damage from cruiser HE and AP. When 203 mm japanese cruiser AP from a Myoko can eat 8 - 10K out of your ship, then you learn fast what her weak spot is. Take a look how much damage my Ipiranga ate from the first Iowa salvo and how much damage she ate from a cruiser, she also burns like hell, even i skilled fire prevention: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJmvqIqmZ76WZ6c

Nice to see WG are giving newer players a chance to earn credits without spending cash on the game. I will definitely grind the missions but doubt I will play her much. Just find slow BBs dull. Heck, the Atlantico is slow but gets away with it thanks to ridiculous secondaries and that is 5 knots faster....

4:10 I had 4 fires on me once in a Nelson, got lucky enough to be able to disengage, DC came off cool-down so mashed that button, then heal came off cool-down, from nearly dead to back with 50+% health :)

Honestly, with the release of Tennessee, California has (sadly) officially become the "Tier VII Alabama". Why use her when Wee Vee '44 exists? And if you want a Tennessee-class, you go for Tennessee over her sister. California literally has nothing going for her, even after the (SMALL) buff she got (which I'm still grateful for, at least WG buffed her at all....).

@@tsuaririndoku Very simple reason: *aesthetics matter to me!* I LOVE the Tennessee-class battleships 🥰 So that's why I used California, regardless of her poor stats. However, I used her so extensively (600+ random battles at 55% or higher WR) and honed my BB skills in her, while recognizing her few strengths and many weaknesses.

I might just drop this here: Rochester T8 smoke cruiser: 203mm 15.9km main guns - smoke fire penalty 6.9km = A very good ship. Auckland T8 smoke cruiser: 203mm 16km main guns - smoke fire penalty *8km* = A very bad ship. Only reason I say this is because I have the beautiful NZ camo but *8km* fire penalty is just unplayable.

California (even after the small buff which was crucial) simply doesn't bring enough to the table to justify itself in any role in Tier VII. Especially if she's compared to Wee Vee '44, let alone Tennessee a tier higher. I love her, but she's just not at the level she should be for her tier.

Just barely average, but not really excelling in any particular role. 🤷‍♀️ And yeah, I thought Tennessee would be the "main battery" variant of the premium Standards in Tier VII, but instead she ended up in Tier VIII. Not that I'm complaining, I actually quite like her there 🥰

Crappy 350mm guns that don't pen anything, slower than snail with broken leg, dispersion that looks good on paper but sometimes play out same as Massa, secs are horrible. I'm not sure what that ship is supposed to achieve in the current meta. Not a brawler, not a sniper, not a fast BB like frenchies. North Carolina is a much better ship with guns that actually pen things. IMO Tennessee is one of the worst ships out there even if compared to tech tree ships.

I'm not sure if any of those battleships in the tech line, including the Massa with such accuracy. I find the ship very reliable at getting 10k per salvos which others can't. She's meant to be alike to the Vermont line, slow midrange battleship with impressive firepower that can swiftly punish careless players. This thing requires good positioning, so if you can't make her work out, it's a you problem.
