The warm vs the cool colors in first place prize is spot on but I have to say I really like Steven's the best. Wow, nice use of a mirror on the bottom. I feel like he even went so far as to use the algae growing on the bottom mirror to help it blend and gradate into the plants in the bottom. Very painterly. Very amazing.

I think Steven used a steel frame stand, have the glass on the bottom with no substrate at all for that reflection areas and used mirrors below that open spaces to create the effect or the bottom of the aquarium is made from a mirror panel (he custom made the aquarium??)

One thing that I’ve always wondered about any aquascape is how do you get the fish to not all bunch up at the front of the tank and beg for food? I hop I get that good at aquascaping someday.

Yepp. You should not do that with your contest tank. It might result in point deduction, that's why we never submitted that contest tank that we built just for the viewers' inspiration last summer.

I keep getting hair algae and moldy stuff on my money Carlo carpet, how do I get rid of them. I do water changes a lot, and I clean my filter and trim the dead stuff, and it just keeps come in up.

How is the judging done? When the works are presented to the judges are they scrubbed of the info on made it? So they judging completely blind?

steve scapes on the pots hole, he purposely left that area without soil , with the lighting below and allows it to create reflection on the surface of it, great technique

I think the mirrors are elevated a bit though...

I think maybe they could achieve that effect by placing a mirror under the aquarium's bottom glass and then have no substrate in those spots. What do you guys think?
