I have the 55mm 1.7 and is it ever sharp. Also tried it out on my canon dslr full frame and discovered just how much i was missing of its personality vs my fuji apsc. They are very affordable. Highly recommend.

Thanks for remembering one of my favorite lenses of all time. I regret selling mine. I currently own the Alpa 50mm 1.7 macro which is a rebadged chinon. And is absolutely lovely for video.

As I have learned Chinon did in fact produce its own lenses. But, the story of this lens is a little different. This lens was produced in cooperation with Alpa Swiss. Chinon produced one camera I think Alpa 3 for them. It was also sold as Chinon CE-II memotron. Tomioka has produced a few lenses for Chinon, but it was written Tomioca lensesTomioca on those lenses. The case of Yashica is different. Yashica bought Tomioca and then all lenses were tagged as either Yashica or Zeiss lenses.

Yes! Thank you. Most of my old stuff is M42 and I just take it for granted.

I used to have a bunch of great Nikkor stuff, 28 f2, 35 1.4, 15 f5.6, 85 1.8, etc, but I sold it all to pay for a trip. I really regret it now.
