You should try to find these ceramic ball bearings in right size to fit your launch device kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2a1enmYoJZqbqc Small 20 mm one took 150 tons of force to be crushed with hardened steel tools and we haven't been able to break larger ones at all :D

@upinarms79
@upinarms79 5 жыл бұрын
The answer really is: it depends. It's hard to test ceramics on the same hardness scale as steel, because it tends to crack too easily under the testing dies that you'd normally test steel with. AR500 steel is measured on the Brinell scale. Ceramics are usually measured with the Knoop scale. There are some very strong ceramics that test above c1300 on the Knoop scale, which is extremely hard but also difficult to accurately test because of how brittle ceramic is.

@@upinarms79 I remember hearing ceramic is harder than steel but more brittle. I think even glass is harder than steel, but obviously it's more brittle. that's why you need diamond tipped tools to cut glass without shattering it.

@@electric_photon4660 Some were made of beryllium oxide. I've also seen information they were tinted pink as a warning. Beryllium oxide is also used in some high power radio transmitter tubes and they were white. Beryllium Oxide is used because it is an excellent insulator and at the same time an excellent conductor of heat; which allows the waste heat to be removed from the tube without melting it. It is also an ingredient in some thermal heat grease. Unless it's very important to you, I'd err on the side of personal safety. I mean, another special rectangular piece of ceramic will restore, so no harm done in the long run. A 10 minute regrinding session with said sharpening stone will cure it. But yeah, he most likely thoroughly f***ed up the edge and point.

You're telling me you don't have a knife that stays pretty sharp that's used for shenanigans like this? I have a beater knife then another that doesn't get as beat up. But still, hit a good whetstone and strop and you're good to go 👌

I don't think there's even anything to do at this point except call in some HAZMAT team to clean up the area where this powder was dispersed and all the equipment that might have been tainted. Whoever sent you magnetrons from a microwave to pulverize DID YOU DIRTY. This is 100% the most dangerous and horrible thing I've seen on this channel. Don't play with microwave parts...

I love that you can see the separated shock bow in front of the isokinetic lifting body. Since the structural integrity of the lifting body's fuselage managed to survive your accelerator tests so well: I was wondering right from the start if increasing the energy density of the accelerator's flux capacitor would have netted even better effects of the terminal kinetic energy dispersion. Ôo
