A Strange Shotgun Slug from LATVIA - Tested!

A kind viewer named Mike sent us some slugs I have seen before but could never find in the store. These are called DDupleks Kaviar slugs. Gregg and I test them out and try to figure out what exactly they would be used for.

We're using these kinds of slugs for IPSC in my shooting club in Germany. They're safe to shoot at steel targets at close distances, but your aim has to be on point like with a normal slug.

Thank you for all these years of solid content. I just found you guys relatively recently, in the last couple of years, but I've gone back and watched a lot of the older videos. This is a pretty unique channel going through so many weird and exotic and interesting projectiles and testing their effects on various targets with slow motion as well. Really entertaining to just sit down and throw one of these videos on once in a while. It's not like other "guntuber" channels with constant yelling and over-editing and crazy stupid crap going on, just cool dudes telling funny jokes and shooting at stuff. Wax slugs made from melted plastic instead of wax.. I have made those, although I didn't have a fancy mold. I just used a Foster Slug in plaster as the mold I used melted polystyrene (Styrofoam cups) They hit a hell of a lot harder than a wax slug did, and broke into pieces, instead of shattering like wax

These shot slugs are certainly a bit different to the normal loads we often see on TFM , the damage dump is virtually 100% and I know I would not want to be on the wrong end of one of them . If that hits any part of their torso, they aren't gonna be able to fire back because they will be on the ground bleeding out with serious internal and skeletal damage, and likely will be unconscious from shock basically instantly upon getting hit.

They seem like proper home-defense rounds. They pack enough of a punch to pretty much end any would-be intruder but they dump their energy so fast that there's very little chance of over-penetration, especially since all the energy of the slug transfers into all those little pellets. High energy slug hits and then turns into 100 tiny pellets, brutal.

It’s a very interesting home defense round to me. I get that anything with more oomph than a BB gun will go straight through drywall. But if you are shooting “down” a hallway aren’t you more likely to strike the wall at an obtuse angle? I would imagine that this type of slug would have little effect on anything on the other side of that wall compared to a solid round or buckshot. I can’t recall ever having seen this scenario tested. But I will go check OG’s video just in case I missed it. Oddly YT doesn’t seem to believe that I actually want to be notified of videos from channels I’ve selected. Apparently I’d rather watch how a lone, always immaculately clean, woman can dig her own four star resort in the midst of the jungle.

I seem to remember a slug composed of razor blade metal fragments that were twisted like a spring and then encased in epoxy. The theory being they unbound and basically exploded into fragments on impact. As I remember they were supposedly outlawed.

They're going to be bad for hunting. Those small pellets would turn the insides of animal into something inedible, and they're basically useless for larger game like boars. Hell, a century ago they used to hunt boars with large buckshot, and today nobody does it because it's less safe than firing an expanding slug.

A couple of decades ago there was a pistol slug that consisted of a thin jacket full of #12 shot. It was called the Glasser and I don't know if it's still in production. It was advertised as a good police round in that it simply would NOT penetrate out the back of a human body. The energy dump was so severe that supposedly a hit any where in "the bottle" was fatal, at least at close range. I suspect the same it true with this but the lethal range would be longer.

Meat Target. The name of OG's 1980s crossover hair band/jazz quintet. Rolling Stone reported in 1984, they expected Meat Target would be the most popular and most successful group of musicians in all of recorded history, for decades to come, and possibly even EVER. Unfortunately, OG is the only surviving member of the quintet after a tragedy the New York Times called, "The worst disaster since Texas City exploded in 1947!" an entire company of Paratrooper cows from the 101st Chairbourne crushed the 1983 Honda Civic they were driving when every one of their China sourced parachutes failed to deploy. Miraculous that 5 grown men could fit in a 1983 Honda civic. Soul crushing tragedy.
