My grandmother use to make burgers similar to this in the late ‘60s here in California, when I was a little kid, but she used her big iron skillet for the hamburger patties and she used white bread, too. With mayonnaise and mustard. She didn’t toast the bread but I remember it was so juicy and good. The only thing is when my brother and I had a burger with the white bread, the bread would stick to the roof of our mouth!
