It's back! The World's Greatest Drag Race returns with nine of the world's best supercars, sports cars, and muscle cars for 2012 facing off in an epic quarter-mile sprint for glory... and ultimate bragging rights! This year's field includes all nine contenders from Motor Trend's 2012 Best Driver's Car competition. We have the Lamborghini Aventador, Nissan GT-R Black Edition, Ford Shelby GT500, McLaren MP4-12C, Jaguar XKR-S, Porsche 911 Carrera S, Subaru BRZ, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series and Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 -- all gathered together on an abandoned airstrip at El Toro Marine Base to find out which car is the fastest. Obviously these nine competitors display a wide range of power and performance, not to mention price tags. So why are we lining them all up again for one gigantic, over-the-top drag race? Any better model of the camaro or a dodge would have probably been right up with the Shelby GT500 or past it. Personally I prefer a Cuda or a Roadrunner (Sadly not made anymore) over The typical Mustang/Camaro/Challenger/Charger but the Gt500 did really well for being as heavy as they are compared to the imports.

The body is also cheap, I had the pleasure to push the back panel inwards because it's all just plastic. When you're spending that 100k, you're only paying for the engine and power, not the luxury interior and body.

Nissan needs to step it up and leave the R35 GTR die in peace, we need a hybrid R36 with more power and less weight. At least the R35 is still cheaper with $20,000 worth of mods to beat a 992 turbo S, however people still bring up that "stock for stock" argument, it's kinda annoying.

yea.. you do know that the GT-R learns the surface, of a track, right? ANY surface. oh, and if u do want to drift it (which it can be done), the car will read the angle of the steering wheel, and throttle application, and if it determines that you are WANTING the car to drift, then it will arrange the power to the wheels according to the held angle, to keep the car drifting for as long as it can, given the current power. the GT-R has a lot of little hidden things that most people don't know about. on the other hand, i've been following this car since it was being developed.. :)

Really? Even though the the new z28 is a track monster and also the new stingray and I even have to give props to the new Mustang as it's suspension is impressive and that is for a quarter of the price if a lambo or any other exotic. Americans can build cars my 1971 camaro with minor suspension mods hangs with cars like the 911, z06 and I can even hold my own with a gtr and I'm running leaf springs and custom made adjustable arms it's all in the driver

Rule of thumb is that 1/10 of a second is a car length in drag racing. So the BRZ being "only" four seconds behind -- that's 40 car lengths.
