I have been searching for a before and after video of the same guitar or bass pre and post installation. This would be a more telling comparison.

Thanks for your comment. I have tried the TurboTail on several x braced steel string guitars. Since they are braced heavily enough anyway, the TurboTail is just an extra anchor. It is unnecessary, and though it might add sustain, it may also impede vibration. As for classical guitars, I tried installing steel strings without the TurboTail, but the top started to deform, and the action rose, so the test didn't work. The classical only works with steel strings if it has a TurboTail, or some other means of removingmtension from the soundboard. I am doing a lot of experiments of my own. If someone wants to make a video of a regular steel string guitar with and without the TurboTail, that would be alright with me. My focus is to interest folks who have the skills to tweak top bracing, or build custom guitars using this device. This is where the real potential of this approach can be realized. Thank you.

@@TurboGuitar_ I have to question whether you are replying to my request, as I mentioned nothing about steel string dreadnoughts. I would like to see a before of the installation of TT on a classical style guitar, more specifically on a classical contrabass guitar, to illustrate the volume and timbral differences.

@@arpotoo7719 Thanks for explaining your question. I am also very interested in testing a Contrabass, such as the Esteve PS 75 with the TurboTail. Unfortunately, I can't afford a contrabass right now. The ones I have looked at cost over $1500 used. Right now, I am focusing on guitars and basses that are top sellers. First of all, he market for our products is likely to be bigger. Second, I can buy used instruments for our tests more easily. Eventually, I hope to be able to buy more diverse basses such as a contrabass. A builder I sent our part to is interested in building a contrabass with the TurboTail. However, he is just a hobbyist, so he doesn't have much time to build. And, who knows how well his build will turn out? I have decided to be patient and let our customers start to do their own tests and post results. We do have a couple more videos ready for editing and posting. This all takes time, money, and effort. Thanks for your interest. Reyn

Córdoba also makes a version of that guitar with a cutaway and electronics (C5-CE). I wonder how the cutaway would affect the tone, in comparison to the model that you have. Also, I'd like to know how it would sound, plugged in, versus the Godin Etude classical that you also have setup with bass strings. Which cuts through a band mix better??
@TurboGuitar_2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I am considering the C5-CE as one of my upcoming experiements set up as a guitar, but not as a bass. I only have limited funds, so I have to pick my test guitars carefully. Since I am trying to interest a major manufacturer in my invention, I am mostly doing comparisons against well known models made by the big guitar companies. Right now we are comparing five or six popular Grand Concert sized guitars vs the Cordoba C5 and the Godin Etude set up with steel strings and the TurboTail. I am also looking forward to comparing a Godin Etude with the TurboTail and the Taylor GS Mini, since it is the most popular guitar in the world. In our preliminary sound tests at Guitar Center, the Cordoba sounds better (to my ear and to a few other listeners) than the Taylor. Upcoming bass reviews will include the Guild b-240 since both Guild and Cordoba are owned by Yamaha. Your C5-CE is a great idea. Please keep following, and making suggestions. And please share with your friends. We need more folks to help with the testing.

What if I install TurboTail on my acoustic bass like this Ibanez in the video? Would it gain anything? Could you please do a demo with TurboTail installed on an acoustic bass, please? It's impressive what you do with classical guitars and it highlights your point perfectly, but I believe there's not many people who would want to turn their classical guitars into basses. But there are many bassists and guitarists who would like to enhance their instruments they already have to play what they already play, but better. So it would really help if you do comparison videos of the same classical guitar with the same classical strings before and after installation of TurboTail, as well as comparison of the same acoustic bass with the same bass strings before and after TurboTail installation. I'm also a luthier and I may may consider to use TurboTail on my guitars and basses by default.

HI. Thanks for your comments. Since you are a luthier, you probably recognize that a standard acoustic bass such as the Ibanez is already braced very heavily to handle the high tension of steel strings. Full scale bass string tension can be around 200 lbs. The TurboTail can't really help instruments that are heavily built. Our goal is to interest skilled hobbyists and luthiers to test the TurboTail on they own builds and mods to see what they can come up with. Ultimately, we hope to find a manufacturer who wants to take a chance building with this technology. Since Yamaha Music Group owns Cordoba, as well as Guild guitars, it should be of interest to Yamaha that their nylon string guitars sold under the Cordoba brand sound better set up with steel strings and the TurboTail than Guild's steel string guitars. We think this simple technology has significant implications for the future of acoustic guitars and basses. Best wishes, Reyn

Thanks for your comment. We have done a lot of experimentation on standard guitars and basses using the TurboTail. Yes, that would be a huge market. Unfortunately, since these instruments are already braced heavily enough for steel strings, the TurboTail doesn't really do much for them. We are trying to post videos that show what the device can do; not what it can't do. I will eventually post before and after videos of the turboTail on regular guitars and basses. However, the results aren't that significant, at least not to my ear. Best wishes, Reyn

@@TurboGuitar_ What would happen then if I install extra light strings like the Dogal JH171, nylon core or some gut strings, in this Cordoba C5, What is the string tension ?

HI Fabian. I am pretty sure that the Dog JH171 strings are long scale 34". I doubt that they would have appropriate tension at a 25.5" scale. You could try it and let everyone know. As for tension, most nylon core strings will not damage a classical guitar soundboard immediately. You don't need a TurboTail. However, long-term, I think it is wise to take the tension off the soundboard, so it doesn't deform and cause the action to rise too much. In addition, it is my personal theory that a part of the success of the TurboTail is that it eliminates the rocking motion of the bridge. Anchoring the bridge to the tailblock means that the bridge can only move up and down, or side to side, not forward and backward. Less random movements mean less vibration loss to inefficient, random movements. It is well known that the strong fundamental vibrations are caused by the up and down (transverse) string motion perpendicular to the soundboard. Thanks for your interest. Reyn
