Here're some points for every grad students planning to share apartments with others: Try to only share with people that you know that you will get along with. Spend some times with them prior to know what they are like as a housemate, before shit hits the fan. If you have a problem with your roommate's habit or something they have done, try to address it to them directly as soon as possible, so you won't be enabling it - and they will remember as well. Communication is a huge key when it comes to house sharing.

Okay so on the allergy thing. Yes. Something as simple as that can 100% affect someone, especially with severe allergies. If you’re going to room with someone who has allergies it’s unfortunately going to be a lot of new things you have to navigate and be aware of unless you want to possibly kill someone over you not getting to microwave your spaghetti late at night. Either do your research or just don’t room with them, it’s not entitlement or “being a bad roommate” if it’s literally life threatening like this. Edit: Really the two should have discussed allergy safety precautions before becoming roommates- it affects literally every part of your daily life if people are bringing allergens into the home so it’s honestly weird that it seems like suddenly the microwave is off limits.
@zofyrose7 ай бұрын
But why should they get say over that? If it's that dangerous for you, maybe just don't use it, rater than dictating what others do?
@LeviAckerman-cl6iy7 ай бұрын
@@zofyrose I do agree to an extent but assuming you two are mature, that sort of thing should have been discussed and explained before becoming roommates. (Maybe “I’ll use the microwave for my snacks that have shellfish- don’t touch it! You can use the oven” etc etc) The hard truth about any eating disorder is that it literally affects every aspect of your life not just microwaves- if you have an allergen/irritant earlier in the day and don’t wash or sanitize your hand, come home and open your roommate’s door with that hand you could kill them or cause them pain when they inevitably come home and touch that door handle. I don’t know how else to explain it to you. Basically, yes they should if you both agree to room with each other, ideally no allergens or irritants should be in the home at all and if you don’t agree then you two shouldn’t be rooming together for both your sakes.

@@LeviAckerman-cl6iy True, but like, this is just a post-it note saying the microwave is mine now. @@Lewis94KZbin Buying it instead of feeding your cat or paying for your own stuff isn't a treat if you want to treat yourself to something like that that costs quite a bit of money you should find a job first.

I live in uni accommodation and I swear these people have never cleaned up anything in their life. Went home over Easter and came back to a blocked sink and rice everywhere! I’ve also had issues with people eating my food and leaving rotting food on the counter for weeks. So before you go to uni lads, learn how to use soap and a sponge and to respect your fellow flatmates

Why someone is “deeping” the laundry and drier thing, is probably because these things have instructions on the labels. If you do your own washing you will know that you can’t wash some clothes on certain heats and you cannot tumble dry certain items of clothing either, as it will ruin them. That would be a huge issue for me too lol some clothes i care about 😂🙈
