Over the last couple months I've been dealing with some hamstring/posterior hip pain that has been progressively getting worse, especially as I increased my flag football training.
As someone with a high pain tolerance and a fear of being told to stop doing what I'm doing, I avoided getting it looked at for longer than I should have.
But when I could no longer touch my toes without wincing in pain, I knew I needed to do something, so we booked an appointment with our good friend and physical therapist to the pros, Mike Reinold.
We wanted to share this raw look into what a GREAT physical therapy session looks like. It's not being told to ice and rest and ride a stationary bike for a half hour while they treat other patients. It's working together to get to the root cause of the issue, and finding a solution that helps you continue doing what you love, WHILE managing your injury and working on strategies that will have the greatest impact on your recovery.
I left this session feeling empowered and in control of my injury, rather than controlled by it.
Whether you're dealing with a similar hamstring injury or any sports injury, I hope this gives you some helpful insights into how physical therapy should look and what a recovery plan can be!

Guys. I f*****ng love you for posting this. Ive been having this pain aswell by doing strength work (heavy deads) and flag 2-3x a week. Ive been feeling the pain exactly where Lauren feels it. Ive seen my physio for treatment but now i have better understanding and exercises to do! Please post updates! And do you have a rehab program for that? If so take my money😂

I don’t advise for this. Yes you can learn a lot of things as a coach but sometimes seeing a professional is better. Depends on the situation
