They have to let everyone know what’s going on. That happens for almost every no-hitter attempt. The fact this was a postseason no-hitter, which is rare and had happened twice before and once in the World Series was something no one expected.

What we’ve learned so far this series. The Phillies need their entire lineup and pitching clicking on all cylinders to win a game. The Astros can win games with 2-3 guys clicking on offense and their pitching continue to dominate when they aren’t tipping pitches (LMJ). Finally, a constant reminder why “on paper” means nothing until after the games are played, because “on paper,” which the Astros showed partly last night, this series would’ve ended last night with a 4-0 sweep. The Astros haven’t even clicked on all cylinders yet and they just threw the 2nd WS no-hitter. Purely impressive.

Gotta admit this was pretty awesome - anybody who has ever followed baseball has heard about Don Larsen's perfect game in the World Series. To see the first no-hitter in WS history, and to have it be a combined one, is a historic moment whether you had a rooting interest in the game or not. Then throw in the fact that this same starting pitcher started another combined no-hitter earlier in the season, just wow. It's why we love baseball.

I’m starting to realize this is probably the single most disrespectful thing the Astros could have done to the Phillies, even if it was unintentional. Think about it. The last time a no-hitter was thrown in the postseason, it was at that very stadium, but thrown BY the Phillies AGAINST Dusty Baker’s Reds. Not only that, but the man who did it - Roy Halladay - isn’t even alive to share his own opinion. Still an incredible performance, but damn, that’s gotta hurt.

Phillies fans actually believed that the crowd would too much for the Astros could handle and that any game at CBP was unwinnable for the away team. Astros get knocked around and blanked in game 3, then come back dominating the Phils with a no hitter. it’s like game 3 happened and they decided it was time to stop playing around and just dominated Philly in the last 3 games. Phillies really didn’t have much of a chance.

It's really difficult to bet now. After the last game I guess Astros but hunter is easier than being hunted. If that isn't going to be a blast, I don't know what is :-) Next season we will have to count on Houston imo. The scouts will be very busy. For clarification Don Larsen's is simply called a "no-hitter" since it was done by him solely. The Astros' combined effort is a "combined no-hitter" indicating that multiple pitchers achieved it. I've seen lots of people asking. The difference between a no-hitter and a perfect game is that in a perfect game absolutely 0 batters ever reach a base by any means. No walks, errors, hit by pitch etc. Literally 27 up and 27 down. Don Larsen's No-hitter was also a perfect game and the only perfect game to be thrown in a World Series ever. October 8th, 1956

1) We are in an era where pitchers don't go as long as they used too. 2) It doesn't matter if it's one pitcher, 4 pitchers, or the entire pitching staff, a no-hitter is still a no-hitter. The fact that it happened again in a World Series is remarkable. Yes Larsen's perfect game was special and will top this one, but for it to be a team with four pitchers with different styles and the Phils couldn't get a hit is remarkable.

I don't care if it's the World Series, when I heard it was a combined no-no with FOUR damn pitchers I just rolled my eyes. I can't watch baseball anymore since they killed the complete game. No heart left in the pitching, it's all just unnecessary mathematics with the pitch count and the other metrics.

I could be completely mistaken but am I correct to assume that a baseball purist would prefer to see their team lose while upholding tradition, over seeing their team win while embracing change? I might be completely wrong, and apologies if I'm off base here. I'm just not sure if winning matters as much to baseball purists which is truly fascinating. To be clear it's still a 100% valid way to watch the game, but it is a foreign concept to me. It just appears that *the way* the game is played is more important than winning, which is hard to comprehend for fans who watch other sports. It's much different in football for example, where pretty much all fans prefer to see their team win and are happy to embrace new things like QBs who can both throw and run. I suppose football purists do exist but they aren't as vocal as baseball purists, and I feel like they eventually fall in line and will embrace new things if it helps their team win lol.
