On my road to 500 pounds! my current is 415 pounds.

Hip flexors in strength athletes (and a lot of other athletes as well) are usually completely undertrained. They do a ton of hip extensions, e.g. squat and deadlift, but almost nobody trains hip flexion so there's a huge imbalance. Kneesovertoesguy talks about it quit a lot and has some specific exercises for it

I honestly think that hanging knee raises are one of the best exercises to fix my hip pain. I focus on really stretching out at the bottom and try to get my knees as high as possible at the top. It’s crazy how quickly It starts to work. The deep split squat is another one that works a treat.

Respect and enjoy all 3 of these guys so much all the time but this content in this video is just invaluable. I've been dealing with this exact issue for over a year stemming back to a powerlifting comp deadlift PR. I got the lift but had a grade 1 hamstring strain as a result. Tried to let it heal and recover but I think I did a poor job of giving it adequate time and thus led to a motor pattern change to compensate and that then caused this muscle by the taint, actual name to difficult to spell right now, to become inflammed. I've gotten deep tissue work, chiro, PT and nothing was fixing it. Everyone treated it as a glute or hamstring issue. So excited to try this and grateful for sharing the info. Thanks!!!

I’m glad I saw Martins doing those Tree Pose “opening positions”, thanks for filming this vid Coach Joe ! One of my favourite deadlift warm ups, and during the rest period, IS to do walking Tree Poses with a 5 - 10 sec hold with my body parallel to the floor then when I come out of it and I’m upright I’ll do 3 - 5 knee raises one leg. Take a step forward and repeat

Like Joey said, some times going back or looking back at what we used to do if we didn't have pain can be so helpful. I was having pain shooing down the outside of my leg from my IT band after not going to the gym for a year or so. PT had me doing stretches but that wasn't super helpful. Then I looked back at what I was doing a few years ago when I had no pain. I added back more hip abduction work and put more focus on that for a few months. I tried adding back some small exercise that caused the IT band pain and it was gone. For the last couple of months I haven't had any issues with it again. Have continued to focus on the hip abduction work to make sure nothing comes back. I'm going to be adding some of what they talked about here as well to help avoid any future issues. Thanks for doing these videos guys!

Oddly, I found this exercise a while ago to help medial glute stabilization while cycling. What I can't seem to sort out is the best way to do progression drills UP TO the way you guys can do it. Is it best to hold onto something, prop the back leg up on a chair or couch and do it, something else? Of course, being a cyclist, I have the same issue with strong up/down muscles, but the small stuff is basically turned off and I want them awake. Same symptom, small low back pain, more annoying than anything. Kudos for the video, and the KZbin algo that brought me here.

I’ve been using the hip-circle to do knee thrusts up to waist height with some speed just for a few weeks as well as the normal lateral crab walk thing you do with the hip circle and my deadlifts are feeling great. Y gym just got a reverse hyper which I’ve only used twice but it’s also making my hips and glutes feel so much better. I’m a very hip dominant squatter with short legs compared to my torso.

@4:35 when he said you can do this in the morning and it’ll reset your flexibility for the day. I don’t know if there’s anything in the literature currently on this but if I squat to full depth once early in the day I notice at work I can get into deep squats and split squats far more easily for the rest of the day and the bottom position of a barbell squat feels better later that night!

Sometimes whenever I play a match and end up using my left foot a lot without warming up properly, I get an intense taint pain. I later learned to pop my pubic bone and the taint pain immediately disappeared. The only problem was the actual pop was also very extremely intense.

I have exactly the same. I can squat, and feel fine i do have to point my toes out a bit more than what i would like to but i can do it pain free. However deadlifting is becoming a pain in the fucking arse! I love deadlifting but its coming to the point where i have to stop doing it all toegheter. I feel like something is catching in the front of my hip ( it feels like its near the psoas muscle/rec fem) I used to play soccer for many many years, now i just lift and run. Had an MRI scan, by the looks of it i have a femoroacetabular impingment with second degenerative disease ( not great new and thanks soccer for this) so might be worth having it look into if it gets worse to find out the exact cause of your hip pain!
