I would love if there could be some meets with these old school bars and skills. I would compete. There needs to be something for us long time ago gymnasts who never lost interest.

WOAH Sveta for 4 years in a row!? I don't think ANYONE will beat THAT for a LONG time...if ever!
@carolhutchinson77639 жыл бұрын
I liked it so much better when the bars were closer together; there were so many interesting moves going between them. Including spinning around the bars with their hips and bouncing off of them.

yeah, back when they did damage to their reproductive organs and many became infertile. fun!
@JennaLeigh5 жыл бұрын
@@allerliebstify lots of people don't realize that was happening. Why be so catty and rude?
@JennaLeigh5 жыл бұрын
Those quick connections and "bounce moves" did look amazing, but unfortunately are very dangerous. Lots of broken ribs, bruised lungs, bruised kidneys.....and lots of women permanently damaged their reproductive organs, many being left infertile after years of training and competing those skills. So, while they're really unique and fun to watch, we won't be seeing those types of skills again. Now..... if only FIG could/would clean up the dark places in WAG.
@saragrant97492 жыл бұрын
No thanks, it’s a dangerous enough sport already without going back to the days where internal damage was a regular occurrence.
@Be3tBe3t12 жыл бұрын
Excellent. I have to say sometimes I miss the "old days" of the bars being closer, with bar beats and all.

Except for the damage it did to the girls. That was a definite downside.

I've been obsessed with gymnastics since like 1991, and i love me some Khorkina.....and like, i *knew* she was dominant... but seeing it in writing and in compilations like these, you really see just how she owned UB. For years.

did anyone notice that the routines got progressively less difficult as the years went on? they seem to be slacking now a days
@sarahgreen36635 жыл бұрын
I agree, there was a girl in blue at 3:26 who I thought was amazing then it started to go downhill from there. It seems eventually the only thing interesting happening was the dismount (compared to the earlier routines)..
@saragrant9749 Жыл бұрын
LESS difficult?! You must not be watching the same thing as the rest of us.
@saragrant9749 Жыл бұрын
The bars routines of the past were amazing. The bars routines of TODAY are amazing. There isn’t a need for anyone to disparage one for the other, just like all other apparatus in the sport. Let’s all just appreciate the incredible skill and talent these athletes have!
