The First World War opened a world of chaos and devastation. But how could Hitler and his Nazism emerge at this time?
France 1940: It is the time of the Second World War and the German Wehrmacht defeats the French army in only six weeks. Adolf Hitler is at the peak of his power. But his rise to power began all with World War I, the first truly global war. Conducted with industrial weapons, the world war became an industrialized slaughter. In a four-year slaughter, 20 million people were killed and 21 million wounded.
At the end of the First World War, it is unclear: What will happen after the First World War? This is Adolf Hitler's opportunity. Originally, an Austrian artist and motorist, Hitler volunteered for the Bavarian army. The First World War boosted Hitler's own politicization and radicalization.
Watch the full documentary and learn how Hitler's power began to rise.

I love these series. I don't get why they are so heavily censored. Its educational and i think it's something people need to see. Especially since people are so used to peacetime, they don't know how bad those poor soldiers had it. As i face my own mortality, i often winder what it must of been like for those soldiers on the front. Never knowing when a shell can scoop your life from you. Families destroyed over someone's else's battle. So much of those wars was unnecessary and that area is still a hot spot for war and people are just as barbaric. Sad.

Article 231 of the Versailles Treaty refers to responsibility for the damage caused by warfare, not guilt. The reparations imposed on Germany were financed by loans obtained largely from former adversaries, resulting in repairs being paid for by Allied countries. The programme of the NSDAP initially focused on the myth of a ‘stab in the back’ by anti-war and Jewish dissidents, rather than the obligations of the treaty.
@bbmtge
@bbmtge Жыл бұрын
Well stated. It is unfortunate that a single issue, reparations in this case, is repeatedly cited by non-thinkers as a most single cause. It is not true and to see historians in this documentary as so simple minded is absurd.

Yep the "stab in the back" by Jews etc rather than admit the German army got beat fair and square. Kind of like the US right-wing going on and on about "stop the steal" rather than admit American voters voted for a return to normalcy.

@leoarc1061
@leoarc1061 Жыл бұрын
Yes, but these "reparations" included costs which were never before included. The widows pensions for instance. They were never part of reparations. "...resulting in repairs being paid for by Allied countries." Germany received loans (with interest; they weren't gifts) from the USA, which it then used to pay British and French reparations, which it couldn't afford, thus resulting in insane hyperinflation. At Versailles, everyone with the minimum understanding of economics knew that Germany, with its massive loss of territory and with its own domestic problems was never going to be able to pay the reparations on the conditions which they were demanded. If you read through the 400+ clauses of the treaty, you should conclude that blame was indeed being put on Germany, or at least understand that it was dictating unreasonable demands on a defeated enemy.

All he does is take every opportunity he can to say "but America was JUST as bad!" and the usual far-left groupspeak. But it makes my blood boil to see how French incompetence and stupidity allowed the Nazis walk over the French military, especially when French air reconnaissance clearly showed that the Nazis were pushing through the Ardennes to cut off the Allied advance in the north. I don't understand when we went from the HUMAN race to multiple races. What's next? A white cat and a black one are two different species because one's black and the other's white? If we can look at a white cat, a black one, a calico, a tortie, and a orange tabby and still agree that they are all still CATS and the only difference among is their fur patterns/colors why can't we look at each other that way?

Probably many many thousands of years ago the humans who survived the ice age who had the genetic mutation that made them white had conflict with Africans in bordering regions. Maybe even way before the ice age, I don't know history that far. Point being when there's conflict there's always an us vs. them mentality. It's in our nature. Well, take that instinct of us vs. them and apply to thousands of years of history and grudges developing and well, all of a sudden it's not such a surprise. Still equally frustrating, though.

"The State" representing "the people" and its control of the means of production. He was kicked out of communist party only because of his support for Italy's involvement in WWI. The Fascists may be right of communists because of their nationalistic views but always remained ideologically socialist. @@jayo3074 If you’re going to unsubscribe just do it, none of us nor I’m sure this channel could care less. Why not make videos of your own if it bothers you so much? Maybe it’ll make you see that videos like these take many hours to put together and just because footage is being censored doesn’t make it a bad documentary.

This was told from a very modern left wing viewpoint. Not only based on what they told and how they told it, but also what they intentionally omitted. It’s actually absurd in several spots

Exactly. Just because someone is opposed to communism, doesn’t automatically make them standard right wing like the documentary is trying to convey.

You're completely correct. The comparison of the left vs the right that they try to convey in this doc has absolutely no correlation to modern politics. Besides, everyone that really looks into nadsp politics can see there are alot of extremely socialist/ left wing ideas embedded in it. To compare national socialism to the American right wing is obscene.

Germany was amazing only in the sense of being amazingly stupid. It had about a year's worth of very good luck until it's long slide into an absolutely inevitable doom. Watch some lectures and podcasts by the historian James Holland (appearing briefly in this series) who describes about a hundred reasons why Germany never had a chance and was always it's own worst enemy. And try not to overlook it's amazing brutality, slave labor, Genocide, terrorism, self-delusion and self-destruction.

Interesting how this English version of the original German TV series is blurring the pictures of the wounded ... In German TV and here on KZbin you can see not blurred. Not that I am a fan of such shocking pictures, but I am surprised that English speakers seem to be so sensitive and must be pampered from realities.

NATO did not exist before 1949, the ECSC was brought into existence as a peace project in 1950 and was enhanced in 1957 to become the European Community. This became the European Union in 1993, which is a democratic transnational organisation.
