Mostly because of the book. The book is great. I actually enjoyed this movie for what it was, A goofy popcorn flick. But the book, is waaaay better and completely different from the movie. A lot of the book purists don't share my sentiment because they kept the book's title.

I think so, too. He could've done that and gotten a "no" twice. On the last bottle, the phone rings one time before a zombie attacks the phone and knocks it off its cradle. Was it going to be a yes or a no? Then the script can go back to "Tell my family that I love them".

It just had to be something that caused someone to be sick/unhealthy enough to not be seen as viable prey to the zombies, but a fatal hazard to their own survival.

For those who don't know, this film is based on the novel by Max Brooks, son of the legendary Mel Brooks(Spaceballs, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, etc.) y'all know who I'm talking about. Read The F'ing Book! And if you become a fan, also read Devolution, by Max Brooks. It's just as terrifying.

The book is phenomenal. I've read it many times. This film - though entertaining - has absolutely nothing to do with the book. The book is fantastic in that it's full of interviews of so many different people from around the world, and how they dealt with the zombie crisis. This film is little more than a "Twenty-Eight Days Later" spin off.

Max Brooks did an incredible job of detailing the military units and equipment of different militaries, and was spot on of geography, as well as political systems. I'm a retired U.S. Army Intelligence Analyst, and was very pleasantly surprised of the level of detail he put into research before writing the book.

He definitely should’ve been asking questions when he was in the cold box. Write “does the camera move side to side and/or up & down?” on the white board. If so, he could’ve asked which one to take, you know write the name of the label number so they could move the camera yes or no. The camera may not move but he didn’t even ask. He could’ve also written “let the phone ring once for yes, twice for no.” Something so it wasn’t a crap shoot on what you inject into yourself

The crazy CIA agent who pulled his teeth out played Brutal in The Green Mile. The Scottish "researcher" in the WHO was Peter Capaldi, who once played Doctor Who. Ironically, on Amazon Prime, they classed him as "WHO doctor"!

As you guys were asking, the start of the movie, in the car, when 'ish goes down. This was shot in George Square, Glasgow, Scotland. Made to look like a US city. It's super weird driving down that street now, although we drive the opposite way! There were crowds of women lined up to get a look at Brad, even my partner, I hate him...(only joking) . One love from Scotland. 💙

Moneyball is a very under rated (IMO) and way lighter Brad Pitt movie. It has a Social Network feel but very optimistic about an older cynical guy who takes a big risk that could change professional baseball and if it pays off. Jonah Hill, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Chris Pratt and more acting in it too.

Fresh out the box Zombies are strong AF. Your own brain limits your muscles from using its full potential. We don't wanna pull, strain, or break anything from simply lifting weights. But Zombies don't have a limiter, hence extra strength.

Brad Pitts character knew what to do because he'd been out in the sh!t. The doctors don't come out of their labs! They practically live there. So they probably didn't run into any terminally ill co-workers for the zombies to ignore.

You both said some things in the first 15 minutes that reminded me of other movies. “Quarantine” is the American remake of “Rec”. I prefer the remake b/c they change something to make it more believable. But, I would watch both, b/c the sequels to each movie are so totally different. But I really think they did a good job for sequels.

If I was the captain of the Belarus Airplane, I would have required everyone be seatbelted in the seats, just in case someone gets bitten. Once they turn into a zombie, they don't know how to unbuckle the seatbelt.

Yeah, but the 1 or 2 passengers buckled right next to the infected passenger would be sacrificed. And you would HOPE those infected don't have enough adrenaline (or whatever equivalent the undead have) to simply break free of those seat belts and attack those still buckled and not fast enough to react

He ran to the edge, cause if he turned he noticed "the spasms and uncontollable twitching that happens" when they begin to turn", that involentary spasm would thow off his balance and send him off the edge of the building top ledge. It was done for insurance in case he was infected because he thought it got into his mouth.

It's almost a miracle that this film turned out as well as it did. The production of this movie was a nightmare for everyone involved, especially the director. World War Z being such a troubled production is probably the main reason why a sequel was never made. But anyway, great reaction! 👍🏿

This is, by far, my all-time favorite of this genre (zombie or horror). The novel was good, but the story was told in a completely different way (the Brad Pitt character was interviewing survivors and thus the story was told in flashback). The author of the novel is Max Brooks (Mel Brooks' son) and he has written another novel more recently called "Devolution". I'm waiting for the day they actually get around to making a movie adaptation of that!

The scene at the beginning when they were in the car then followed the truck was filmed in George Square, Glasgow. I was at a training course for work and saw some of it being filmed. My friend had a part playing a riot cop in that scene also 😊

Yeah... the main difference (that I can remember) in the extended is that they show blood... in the normal one... there is no blood...like, at all. Mainly one scene specifically with the military girl. And also the jetliner crash when pit wakes up. Or maybe I'm just thinking of the NR version... idk. Umm... Waterworld has 3 editions (I think...not positive)... but only the movie version (short original, version) has bad words in it. The extended version was created for network television. original Superman (Christopher Reeves) had a network television extended version as well.
