I am originally from Connecticut and don’t live there anymore. You have a lot of very valid points. All the places I lived before our dumps. There is not a lot to do unless you have money. There are high taxes and you did forget that there is tax on motor vehicles every year. That’s just one more tax. It’s not affordable. All my family is there and I would love to move back but it is just not affordable for me. Thank you for the video. It’s 2024 and what you said still holds even more so.

@@theword2011 I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else either but I’m also tired of seeing our country completely fall apart. Small town USA has no jobs. We don’t manufacture anything anymore. I grew up from 1963 to 1972 in Portland Oregon and then it was a nice little town, Seattle was the big city. And we got about two feet of snow there plus the city was pretty good with snow removal and I didn't hear much on the news about car accidents as a result. It was great to grow up there with Mt Hood and the Pacific coast equidistant plus fishing was awesome paired with camping I could stay in the fir forested hills in the Mt Hood national Forest. All said now I am in South Dakota and you said nothing about it in this video so... My house is for sale here and it has fiber optics Internet available. If you have a remote job this is an excellent place to live and raise a family.

Nice to see Connecticut up first. I was born and raised there on the border with Massachusetts in the 60s and 70s until I left for college, the army and life. But I loved growing up there and was proud to say I was from there. Tons of good paying blue collar jobs like Pratt & Whitney, Hamilton-Standard, Electric Boat and the like. It was also big in insurance. Even low taxes. One could lead a nice, comfortable suburban life. Even single income families at the time with many moms staying at home with the kids while dad worked. Four beautiful seasons for a kid but some tough winters for the adults. Loved blizzards and no school snow days! It's a damned shame what's happened to it.
@angelachouinard4581
@angelachouinard4581 9 ай бұрын
I feel the same Chris. My Dad spent his whole career with Pratt & Whitney. I left for the military in 73. Cities and towns took care of things, there were no HOAs. If you wanted to get trade training instead of college there were tech high schools and apprenticeship programs. It is a damned shame what happened. And there were drugs and gangs back then so that wasn't the whole problem, people like to blame that but something more went on.

Agree. Grew up there in small town. Moved to FL where i live now for college in 2002 but have visited and briefly moved bsck a couple times. It really should be one of the top sought after places to move if it was manages right but the combination of having the biggest wage and income gap in the country taxes the middle class too much there plus it's rated the most corrupt politicians etc. such a shame. I wish it would get it's s together. I loved growing up there but it's harder now and as an adult there. I still love ct and new England I just wish it would correct the biggies and it'd be wonderful.

I was born and raised in Spokane and got the hell out of there when I was 19. The worst part of Spokane in my opinion is Brown's Addition. Most of the houses there are the type of homes that were really nice in the 50s, but are totally decrepit and abandoned now. Lots of crime and gangs and just obvious extreme poverty.

As a resident of Savannah Georgia, I’ve always considered hurricanes as God’s way of thinning the herd! You have the storm 200 to 300 miles across! And you’re aware of but at least a week ahead of time. All you have to do is get in your car and go the other direction. When they start telling you to prepare for hurricane season, make sure that you have gas in your car an extra gas in your shed. And some bags ready to go.

THANK YOU. All the problems here are real and so is everywhere else. I'm voting towards give us retirees a better break or we're bailing to Mexico where honestly a new Nationally up and coming biz model, ASSISTED LIVING. Suddenly the economy Mexico strains under could be nicely supplemented with us SSI retirement crowd. I'm North County SD and just hanging so very interested in whether I can remain. Milder weather in the region is less expensive in snow country unless one never leaves the house, good thing too as the utilities rates here are hideous. I enjoy candle light and cold meals and board games 4p-9p often (insert sarcasm a bit.) We're all on the same utility grid unfortunately... more infrastructure repair training, jobs and industry PLEASE.

On the way from Savannah, Georgia to Tybee Island. There’s a local seafood restaurant called the crab shack. On the way to the restaurant you pass these mobile homes that are sitting on telephone poles some 20 feet up in the air. I always thought of them as a golf team For a category 4 or 5 hurricane.

Hey Briggs, I think I might have an idea for a video for you regarding the last four teams in the NFL. If you look at the each city they've all had some type of issues, especially Detroit and Baltimore Is there any way you could do a video that would kind of go over Which city would benefit the most if they won a championship? Or at least how a championship would benefit the city in question.

Thought the list was most diverse at first. About the third city, and mention of restaurants I checked I had it wrong. I'm in Florida (by force) but lived the rest of my entire life in Atlanta. I watched it change. Going to different places and experiencing different foods and events was great. A big thing for me every year was the Greek Orthodox festival for example. That kind of event or food. Almost died after eating Baklava, but whatever. The different cultures, and meeting people from around the world was a nice part of the city. The last p[aces I would want to live is a city that was 70-80% my race, or one that was 70-80% just one other race. A mixed culture, or shared culture really, is fantastic.

First time California lost population as well. Wildfires! I read a couple of books years ago, 40-45 years ago. Both books mentioned how terrible the Wildfires were. They pretty much covered the years between 1849- 1900. I wish I could remember the titles to both books. But I'm old and my memory isn't what it used to be.

I am a California native, born in Downey California. I’ve never moved from this state to live somewhere else, but I’ve only visited a few cities in Arizona. That being said, I’d opt to probably just move to another country, for various reasons, the main one being cost of living. I really don’t think people in general are very friendly in California and I’m including people in LA County and Riverside County (in the Inland Empire of “IE”). The illusion of California is slowly fading, even though we have great landscapes (ever watch California’s Gold lol).

I lived in Tucson from late June to late August 1969. We moved there from San Francisco, what a change in weather. I thought the sun was literally going to cook me. They had these giant beetles. They seemed to be bigger than a Volkswagen but smaller than our Buick. Years later I drove to Arizona in search of ghost towns and found one. First place I explored was the saloon. It was funny bcuz I had to duck to enter the saloon. I guess they built buildings to fit their height back then and only about 3 people could fit in the bar and that was crowded. Went to the jail, same deal.

Skipped Baltimore. Never miss a beat on Detroit but I guess Baltimore is a gem in your book. Talks about upstate NY in his natural disaster video, shows NYC 😂

I am surprised that Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas TX didn't make the list. Oak Cliff is one of the most dangerous parts of Dallas to live. Half of the murders come from there.
