What a way to win. The odds were against him; Gatlin was the favourite by far and had the world lead that year; in the semifinals, Bolt's race nearly collapsed and Gatlin, once again, had the lead overall. Yet, come the big occasion, the men's 100m final, Bolt somehow managed to deliver. Surely, as the saying goes, "Cometh the hour, cometh the man". Usain Bolt is indeed the "best of the rest". Kudos Bolt.

They took 5years from 2012 to beat a sub-par Bolt. That’s crazy. 2012 olympics was his last competition in decent/good shape. Everything after that his body started failing him and times when he wasn’t training enough (e.g. 2017 world champs)
@pena3804 жыл бұрын
He was still really fast his 9,77 in 2013 was agains't headwind and rain. So it could been 9,67s-9,70s in better conditions. His 200m 19,55s in 2015 could been sub 19,5s without celebreting. His 9,84s in semi final 2016 easing down is good too and 9,88s earlier thah year could been 9,65s without really bad start and easing down again. His 100m final time was on 9,81s cause he was tired. He was slow at the start they only had couple hours to rest in that event which affected a lot. His 200m ran 19,78s he was really tired too and no one else didn't even break 20s.
@pena3804 жыл бұрын
2017 he lost because bad start he was still fastest overall evem he practised less and skipped full month of it. He was not motivated to practise. He tried his best in championships but he should practise more he skipped 200m cause he did not want practise more.

Johnson ran 9.73 with the help of anabolic steroids and Lewis 9.92 and in 1984 Lewis ran in finals 9.99 and got gold but in 2021 olympics everyone in finals are below 9.99 and don’t take the two disqualified in finals . This was for me one of Bolt's most impressive performances from a mental standpoint. He was able to step up his form and take the win despite not being in great form and pretty under-raced coming into these championships; however, I do think that Gatlin probably should've gotten the win. He'd been the form athlete coming into these championships and looked very relaxed running a faster time than the winning mark in the semifinal. Unfortunately, the pressure got to him; and his form fell apart as Bolt and the finish line closed.
