@@matthijsvanemous7046 Certainly the 400m is a sprint, no question and I was actually being conservative. When I re-checked The IAAF scoring system 9.58s (1356 points) is statistically actually equated to; 42.55s - 400m 12.50s - 110H 19.16 - 200m 45.66s - 400H Only Jan Zelezsny's incredible javelin throw is rated higher. That's how ludicrously fast that performance is. It sort of makes sense when you consider how we all felt watching that race, it was like '9.58? that's not possible!'

The guy in red Haroon who came third was really impressive as he got the slowest time going into the final and being a fastest loser but look at him at 300m he is last place and has an incredible kick to almost finish second only a few hundreds behind Gardiner

Unfortunately, fate intervened and he picked up a bad injury and he's not the same athlete ever since. Still, no one can ever take away his World Record performance at Rio 2016.

Rest in Peace, young man. Only last week a close friend of mine shared with me how another young man was killed in a motor accident, literally, outside her house. She was pretty shaken up, unsurprisingly. She didn't know the young man. People, drive carefully. Don't take unnecessary risks. It's not worth it.

Niekirk's winning time in the final :43.98........Steven Gardiner's semi-final time at this meet was 43: 89 I think this silver medal is a huge accomplishment for Mr.Gardiner who at one point in this race had.the lead. Congrats to all .Great run !!

@@willykruze no matter how hard you train , if you are ALL NATURAL with no special enhancements you will still breathe hard running that fast. This guy is clearly using some type of enhancements and just haven't been caught as yet . I bet he will retire soon to avoid being caught . That is if he hasn't already retired . That is what the best cheaters do before they are caught ; retire early .

Anybody who can even think of sprinting a split 10.6 sec in the 400m race knows exactly how much of a body and mind it takes to be a champion. And the pains that go with it!
