Victor Litvinov's Master, is a great figure of academic classical dance in many ways. He is unmatched in transmitting strength, fire and power to his students, he also teaches what few do and this can be counted on the fingers of one hand: the expression and theatricality of the body right down to the eyes. This translates into generous arm movements, very open seconds, a dilated placement in space, a precision of interpretation, a total stripping of all mawkishness linked to the pinkish image of a fragile and disembodied dance. One can feel the Ukrainian school and tradition in the intensity of its course, uncompromising and noble, like the theater of Constantin Stanislavski which was performed at the Actor's Studio in NY. Unfortunately, I was not able to follow his classes enough, but I remember feeling that everything I was doing, next to what he was showing, looked like the gestures of a distraught ant. What also lifts him up in a peculiarity all his own is his thunderous voice pushing his steps to the ceiling, his unconditional frankness, his impressive stature that makes even the air around him no longer dare to emit a breath. I always told him that he reminded me of Clint Eastwood, and that he could also have had a brilliant career in the theater or cinema, in Sorrentino's repertoire, and for the dramatic arts, Michael Kantor. This gives us actor-dancers, the most representative of which was Vladimir Vasiliev. I would like to pay tribute to him through this publication, we are a generation that continues to cherish and revere our Masters, because without them we would be nothing. So take over, but beware, it is a relay of fire. __________________________________________ Maître Litvinov est une grande figure de la danse classique académique et ce, à plusieurs points de vues. Il n'a pas son pareil pour retransmettre la force, la flamme et la puissance à ses élèves, il enseigne également aussi ce que peu font et cela se compte sur les doigts d'une main : l'expression et la théâtralité du corps jusque dans le regard. Cela se traduit par des ports de bras généreux, des secondes très ouvertes, un placement dilaté dans l'espace, une précision d'interprétation, un dépouillement total de toute mièvrerie liée à l'image rosâtre d'une danse fragile et désincarnée. On sent l'école et la tradition Ukrainienne dans l'intensité de son cours, intransigeant et noble, tel le théâtre de Constantin Stanislavski qui découla sur le Actor's Studio de NY. Je n'ai malheureusement pas assez pu suivre ses cours, mais je me rappelle avoir eu l'impression que tout ce que je faisais, à côté de ce qu'il montrait, ressemblait à une gestuelle de fourmi affolée. Ce qui le hisse aussi dans une particularité bien à lui, c'est sa voix tonitruante poussant les pas à gicler jusqu'au plafond, sa franchise sans conditions, son impressionnante stature qui fait que même l'air se trouvant autour de lui, n'ose plus émettre un souffle. Je lui ai toujours dit qu'il me faisait penser à Clint Eastwood, et qu'il aurait aussi pu faire une brillante carrière de théâtre ou cinéma, dans le répertoire de Sorrentino, et pour l'art dramatique, Michael Kantor. Cela donne des acteurs danseurs, dont le plus représentatif était Vladimir Vasiliev. Je tiens à lui rendre un hommage par l'intermédiaire de cette publication, nous sommes une génération qui continuons de chérir et vénérer nos Maîtres, car sans eux nous ne serions rien. Alors prenez le relais, mais attention, c'est un relais de feu. _________________________________________________________ Il Maestro Litvinov è una grande figura della danza classica accademica sotto molti aspetti. Non ha eguali nel trasmettere forza, fiamma e potenza ai suoi studenti, insegna anche ciò che pochi fanno e questo si può contare sulle dita di una mano: l'espressione e la teatralità del corpo fino agli occhi. Questo si traduce in generosi movimenti del braccio, secondi molto aperti, una dilatazione dello spazio, una precisione di interpretazione, una totale spogliazione di ogni svenevolezza legata all'immagine rosata di una danza fragile e disincarnata. Si sente la scuola e la tradizione ucraina nell'intensità del suo percorso, senza compromessi e nobile, come il teatro di Constantin Stanislavski che è stato rappresentato all'Actor's Studio di NY. Purtroppo non ho potuto seguire abbastanza le sue lezioni, ma ricordo di aver avuto la sensazione che tutto quello che facevo, accanto a quello che lui mostrava, sembravano i gesti di una formica sconvolta. Ciò che lo solleva in una particolarità tutta sua è anche la sua voce fragorosa che spinge i suoi passi verso il soffitto, la sua franchezza incondizionata, la sua statura impressionante che fa sì che anche l'aria intorno a lui non osi più emettere un respiro. Gli ho sempre detto che mi ricordava Clint Eastwood, e che avrebbe potuto avere una brillante carriera anche nel teatro o nel cinema, nel repertorio di Sorrentino, e per le arti drammatiche, Michael Kantor. Questo ci dà degli attori-danzatori, il più rappresentativo dei quali è stato Vladimir Vasiliev. Vorrei rendergli omaggio attraverso questa pubblicazione, siamo una generazione che continua ad amare e venerare i nostri Maestri, perché senza di loro non saremmo nulla. Quindi prendete il comando, ma attenzione, è una staffetta di fuoco.
