Other note, I believe neverwinter nights two starts at/during a seasonal festival where the main character and several other characters participate in different events such as tests of str or Dex or what not... a good time was had by all.... until the uninvited monsters attacked. There is a free winter holiday adventure for free online for 5e if ppl need one for a one shot in the next day or so....

amazing video. I think your santa video is under performing because it is a podcast and KZbin (mobile app) requires the screen to be on even if the video is audio only, and it was one of your earliest videos

There's a ton of reasons it underperformed. I'm not actually upset but I do find it hilarious

One aspect that I always feel like I struggle with is multiculturalism. When I build my world with several different nations and cultures (in my current case entire planets) it can be really hard to justify coming up with holidays that aren't universal. I like to provide a calendar to my players, so why would I put on a holiday that's only celebrated in this small island nation they'll probably never get to? Typically my go tos are the seasonal holidays, holy days for specific gods (since they're usually real and interact with the world this makes more sense to be pretty ubiquitous), and if there is one holidays established by some connecting body. For example the multi-planet world I'm working on has the "Standard Committee" that basically came up with the Standard language, units of measurement, the Standard calendar, etc. So since most habited planets have made agreements with the Standard Committee and its teachings, the holidays it denotes will be shared. Also I love that Jarred basically said, "What if there was a holiday for Balto but we made him a donkey?" lol

The micro holidays are definitely extra work but I think those local ones can still be good to put on a calendar even if it's purely for meta reasons. Like sure it's not going to be on any calendar on the street but it reminds your players that other cultures are still moving. And yes balto but a donkey is a dope idea and I stand by it
