Tbh im not a fan of the second form It feels too unmonstrous And outta place for the 3 Id argue to make the 2nd just a more enraged version of the first Also In my home game and when i played it with my friend as a player We had issue with Auril being a god because the game doesnt give her a good motive to freezing icewind dale In my game she was a demon lord akin to lolth or zuggthmoy originally sealed by the Netherese in the Necropolis Helped it be more cohesive in my opinion Especially shoe in the devil cult and Levistus Having the chaotic evil motive to simply consume the suffering souls of the ten towns and trapping them within the dale When we replayed the module My friend played her as an Archfey It modified her resistances and weakness to cold steel and silver which enhanced the fight And supported her frost druid minions essentially wanting to restore icewind dale to the perfect untouched place it used to be had alot of good themeing on the environment

What if you went circle of dreams and celestial if you wanted to function as more of a primary healer and support. It sounds redundant I know but hear me out. Pack of tome to add to druids utilty. Focus on fire and radiant for any damage. Think closer range than normal for a caster with improved misty step from circle of dreams plus actual misty step from warlock slots. Could this be optimized to function well or would it just be lack luster?

Gloomstalker Ranger and Whispers Bard could have some good synergy in both combat and thematically. A very good spy and information gatherer/broker. Able to both sneak and lurk in the shadows as well as mingle amongst various groups of peoples gathering juicy bits kf gossip.

Thank y'all so much for this discussion! I am making a Gloomstalker Ranger / Twilight Domain Cleric for my next character, and all of your comments made for wonderful food for thought! I especially resonated with taking choices for what your party needs; most of my table normally plays martial characters, so I definitely feel like this combination will be so nice for supporting the singular Druid in the party. Thanks again for all of the sentiments!

Going off the kraken example. You could have a head, a body, and a tail miniature. The head has 1/4 health, the body has 1/2, and the tail has 1/4. When you 0hp the head the damage comes out of the body and the head regains hp. You can "cut off the tail" by 0hp the tail. The body would kill it if you 0 hp it. You would have that higher ac for the body. The head and tail have lower ac, but they can hurt you. For movement, you move the head, and the body goes to where the head is, and the tail goes to where the body is. So, it is almost like 2 creatures and a "base" to attack. Idk i think thag would work.

One way around the Martial Arts ‘no armor’ clause is to be a Tortle or another race with natural AC

I agree with your interpretation on Balm of Peace. It uses your action to move, so it doesn’t use your movement for the turn. And dashing wouldn’t give you extra movement for the Balm. So let’s say the monk is outside melee. They could use their movement to move into position, Balm of Peace, and then use any remaining movement, if they have any, to move away. And they can still use their Bonus Action to disengage or dash as needed.

In regards to dim light, I would say that if the sun (or source of roughly equivalent brightness) is visible in the sky while outdoors, then it is not dim light. If that source of light is obstructed (below the horizon, and thus twilight, for example), or is noticeably less bright than sunlight, then it is dim light condition for the Twilight cleric. Indoors, if it's a room lit by natural light but the source of light is not visible, then it is dim light. If it is a windowless room without light illuminating it to at least roughly the equivalent to the sun just above the horizon, then it is dim light. So, dim light for a twilight cleric doesn't necessarily have to be near dark conditions. It simply needs to meet twilight conditions. As an aside, I can see dangerous situations for a twilight cleric using this ability. Maybe it's temporarily twilight conditions due to very heavy cloud cover that breaks, or someone casts sunlight or something. I expect that the hapless cleric would drop out of the sky a stone.

Played this today, my ranger had the laser rifle from the Id Ascendancy Illithid ship, Gloomstalker attacked 3 times, hit twice and dealt 74 damage (3d8 Radiant *2 for vulnerable *2 for attacks, if he'd crit 3 times he could have done 9d8*2*2 for 36d8 + 30 if sharpshooter).

Sometimes it's just fun to hit with a stick, esp when you go hard on def and certain feats like lucky or polearm. And it's not horrible for multiclass but you have to be aware of some decisions to make like how to make up for the lost stats and low Con stat. Harder to do charisma casters than druids or rogue, bladesinger and battlemaster work nicely, few fighters and one or two barbarians as well but if that's the case lean Con.

Thematically I hate that you can switch between natural weapons, it just doesn't feel right for trying to have a consistent theme within your character
@DarkBunnyLord6 ай бұрын
As for ratcheting up tension you can do that still in several ways. First is simply putting a time limit on things, ie maybe you need to take care of the bandits boss before he executes his plan, maybe an orc war band is waiting for reinforcements waiting to long will mean you now deal with a bigger group of enemies etc. As for resources you do point out spells, also consider scrolls, potions, tailismens etc Pf2e has a TON of magic items, many of them consumables that, if your party has to burn through smaller encounters does mean they won’t have them for that big fight later. Similarly I’ll point out that tension during a can be higher do to how the wounded and dying condition work. Unlike 5e a player can’t just keep going down over and over and having their ally’s heal them for small amounts as the dying/wounded conditions keep stacking one of those downs the player will just outright die.

Phantom Rogue Oath of Conquest Paladin: This paladin created their oath so that even in undeath, they will not yeald. Use the Undead lineage for flavor purposes. Oath of Redemption Assassin/ Thief rogue: This paladin had a troubled past, was a scoundrel, or even just had to make ends meet due to an unfortunate living situation. Now they are a well adjusted adult who is trying to better themselves daily. Hence, they take up their Oath. Oath Of the Ancients Paladin Scout rogue: A forest dweller who lived in seclusion with his people and in one with nature, who took up their oath to protect the things they love the most. Oath of Glory Paladin Swashbuckler rogue. A rogue who wants my name to be the most renowned among the world as they journey through it. Hence, they constrict themselves to an oath to spread their influence, whether that is a good or bad thing. Bonus points if you go the "Dread Pirate Roberts" route of being an 'alleged' big scary pirate. Arcane Trickster Oathbreaker: This paladin realized the cruelty in the world around them and understood sometimes, to get stuff done, you got to get your hands dirty. So they abandoned their oath and sought a more subdrifuge focused direction.

Alternate warlock Subclass Pact of the Celestial. Giving you that additional healing as a bonus action could make you really annoying to kill. Additionally, if you really want to lean into it, Zealot barbarian gets to add the 1d6+ half barbarian level in damage (radiant or necrotic) to one attack per turn. This allows for Pact of the Blade to scale nicely, even without the invocations like Lifedrinker.

I was inspired by the daemonsmiths of warhammer but added a twist on it by making them a divine craftsman with the celestial, He's an autognome that can heal with mending and I wanted the pact of the chain boon that let's you you heal the maximum amount of hp from healing along with the free healing words

Going to be running baphomet in the current campaign I'm doing and maze is a tricky one but it's too interesting to pass up. My two ideas are either to establish a 30-Ft square around the character with a tile in mind that they have to guess to land on or find a simple but not too simple paper and pencil maze that they have 6 seconds per turn to work through.

If we were to ignore the stat requirements or just assume you somehow managed to meet the requirements. It would be great if there was a bow equivalent of a Hoopak (Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen Hoopak: * A hoopak is a sturdy stick with a sling at one end and a pointed tip at the other. 1 gp, 1d6 piercing (melee) or 1d4 bludgeoning (ranged), 2 lb. Ammunition (range 40/160), finesse, special, two-handed and the special trait reads as follow: Hoopak. When you make a melee attack with this weapon, you ignore its ammunition property. You can use the hoopak as a martial ranged weapon. If you do, it uses the ammunition property, uses sling bullets, and deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage on a hit.) and after lots of looking around on the internet, there is historical president for this. These bows existed in varies iterations. As an umbrella term I'll use spearbow, in Japan there was the Hazuyari sometimes people also referred to it as a bow bajonet (since it's an attachment that you put on top of your bow) and in America there were the Sioux most elite who sometimes came equiped with something called a Ghost Lance Bow (has several variations), so they have definitely existed in real life. For D&D I'd like it if they like the Hoopak would be counted as a polearm and for melee attacks to have the reach property. Give them a d8 for range and a d10 for melee, blending the (D&D) pike and longbow into 1 weapon. This would make it easier to combine both the ranged and melee fighting style. If we put on a very hippy-rangery outfit on top of our armor you could decieve them into thinking that it's a good idea to rush the ranger ''because archers are bad in melee'', just wait for their reaction when they run headlong into their first smite. Now you have them exactly where you want them as a paladin.

Another way to bring in dinosaurs, a bunch of druids contracted an adventurer group to get them some dinosaurs, so that their newby druids would know what they look like for their wildshape in case they want to go adventuring. And of course this goes wrong and now a new group of adventurers is asked to mob up the chaos.

A little before around 21:15 you talk about how adding an aditional stat from swashbuckler isn't a good idea. I take it that now in hindsight with fae wanderer it becomes a little bit of a better idea. Also I think that the swarmkeeper 11 feature to knock them prone is great for rogues.

Jarred calling for a Purple dragonknight build at the end?, ah of course you combine that with the drakewarden.
@JugglingAddict8 ай бұрын
Theme/flavorwise I love this combination. We don't have an artifice warlock subclass, but cursed items have to come from somewhere, somebody has to make them and they would need a reason to be wanting to distribute them. Well a patron of artifice could be that (I'll just steal the flavor text of undead warlock for some possible patrons) source making cursed items/weapons, which devour and feed the soul of those attuned to it, if it's an item or the soul of the slain in the case of a weapon, to the patron. So distributing those items are what makes the patron stronger, which is rewarding the warlock with more spells. Wouldn't that be a cool patron?

While hexblade is very good, depending on the build a undead warlock with greater invisibility and 7 lvls of conquest paladin will be very scary too and bonus action hide from goblin. I think charisma added to the attack is better than just using charisma. Take a look at devotion paladins channel divinity. Also there's mark of shadow elf that gets greater invisibility added to their spell list.

I'm relistening to a bunch of different episodes to find the episode where you talk about little creatures that can enslave others that you could build an entire campaign around. There's still a lot to go through. Edit: Found it it's this video.
