Here's the last Group B match for OLLO and Antidote. They are both guaranteed a place in the Playoffs at least. If Antidote can get a win and The Unknown Project get a loss or draw in their next match, Antidote top the Group and will go straight to the Quarter Finals.
Re: the DTR in Chase 8.
We always tell athletes that it is the responsibility of the Chaser to make the Tag obvious. In this particular chase, Emic is pretty confident he made the Tag but Shawn didn't feel anything so called the DTR. Unfortunately, when the head referee, Adam Kozy, went through the footage, it wasn't conclusive that there was a definite tag. Like we said - It's the responsibility of the Chaser to make the Tag obvious and in this case it wasn't obvious, therefore Emic lost the Chase, therefore it was an Evasion. It was an unfortunate situation because with a bit more experience, Emic could have continued the chase to try to get a second (more obvious) tag just to be sure.
The other option we have in situations like this is to play the chase again. However, this gives the opportunity for athletes to play the system. For example, if a Chaser doesn't think they are going to get the tag, they could call a DTR then, when it is declined, they just re-do the Chase and this would be unfair.
It's a tricky one but we're improving it as we go along and the more experience we get, hopefully the smoother the whole process will be with everyone knowing the full implication of calling a DTR. Apologies to Emic though and can't wait to see him back on the Quad!

Regarding the dtr situation: I think it is perfect as it is. If you want to claim a tag you must be 100% sure. Athletes should know that and be aware of the rule. It is fair and there is really no way to use it in a non intended way.

@@WorldChaseTag Maybe it would be a fairer system if unless the refs call a tag, the 20 seconds are always used up completely before going into a review. No throwing up your hand and saying 'I tagged him' until the time is up. That way you won't lose 10 seconds of chase opportunities just cause the footage isn't clear, but you can't game the system either as requesting DTRs when you know there was no tag just gives your opponent an opportunity to rest, which you wouldn't want either.

Then only this game will truly be a candidate to become a globally celebrated sport like football & cricket, etc.

@@WorldChaseTag it's very easy, there are only 9 possible outcomes that are equally possible (R-R, R-P, R-S, P-R, P-P, P-S, S-R, S-P, S-S), and only 3 of them are ties (R-R, P-P, S-S), which gives you 3/9=1/3 probability of having a tie in a single match. A different way to think about it is no matter what the first player plays, the second player has 1/3 chance of making the same move. To calculate that for 7 ties in a row, we need to multiply probabilities of a tie in each single match (each match is independent): 1/3*1/3*1/3*1/3*1/3*1/3*1/3 or (1/3)^7, which gives about 0.046% or 1 in 2187 odds.

For DTR, maybe start the chase over but only with the remaining time left? That way, there's still a possibility for another tag, but it basically gives the evader a head start, because he. starts across the court again, with the chaser back on the platform.

That DTR decision makes sense even if it's not perfect. Maybe a system where the remaining time is what's needed for the tag, but start from beginning places? In practice it gives the Evader an advantage and makes the Chaser pursuing an unfair DTR risk more, so it doesn't really work in their favor either, but it doesn't just eliminate the rest of the chase, which in itself isn't the most fair way to deal with it.

@worldchasetag Hey, I'm a big fan! *I have few a few ideas on how to address disputed tags if you are willing to read the wall of text below. Personally I don't think in cases like the Emic DTR there should be a re-do of the chase. Here are my proposals (the last 2 are my favourite):* *1.* One of the easiest solutions would be to have more cameras. These would be stationary cameras arranged in a grid overhead and on the sides that are only consulted during a disputed tag. *2.* You could look for a technical solution such as by having Chasers dip their fingers in dye before a chase. Each team would have their own colour and when a tag was made it should leave a mark. This would be complicated though. *3.* Another solutions would be to have one or two heat-sensing cameras (thermal imaging) to review tags. This would have the advantage of being relatively low cost. It might also be effective at identifying when a tag has made direct contact as opposed to just touching a loose shirt. AND it would be super cool as a viewer to see instant replays of a tag in infrared. *4.* This last idea is rule-based and I think could work really well. It would involve implementing a rule that only the Evader can call a tag. So, in a case where a tag is made, the tag would be called by the ref when the Evader signals. This would give a chance to the Evader to be honest and end a chase early when tagged. In a case where the Chaser thinks they have made a tag but the Evader doesn't acknowledge it, the chase would continue until the time is up because the Chaser does not have the power to signal the end of the chase. If Chaser makes a second tag in the 20 seconds, the point would be moot. However, if the Chaser doesn't make another tag, then following the end of the 20 second chase they can dispute the tag and have the ref consult the footage. This solution would prevent Chasers from playing the system like you mentioned in the video description. I also think that you guys could create a hand gesture unique to World Chase Tag that would be be used by the Evader to signal when a tag has been made. This would make it obvious to the ref and the viewers which would help with watch-ability.

Sucks to be Emic there, made a good move and cut the angle well. Showed some nice early court IQ predicting the movement and how to cut it off. But if you are relying on a camera angle, any athlete who's dealt with VAR situations is gonna tell, -- don't. But that's something that you learn from doing competitive sports. I assume that's his first foray into any competitive sport with cameras on hand so can't assume he's going make the best decision on his first run through. Let this be a lesson, don't leave it to the referees unless you have to. They are human and can make mistakes for or against you. It didn't go his way, the cameras weren't on good angles to confirm or deny it, and the refs made a decision. It just wasn't in Emic's favour. If I hadn't learnt that lesson a million times over, I definitely could see myself doing the same thing.
@WorldChaseTag
@WorldChaseTag 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's a tricky one but, like you say, with a bit more experience athletes will know that if they don't make it perfectly obvious on the first attempt, go fir a second attempt to make sure!

ok, i am no one to say this, cause the sport is yours but i personally think the DTR judgement stuff works fine as it is, i mean here players are all honest as far as i've seen, so if the chaser is SOOOOO sure that he tagged someone i think it's fair to "bet" the point and have him take responsability for that. Btw as always this is really cool😁

well now we know put more focus on the rock paper scissors match during the start, even if it only fluff to determine who starts, you can get a gem out of it. This is not bashing on the chases ether they were great (espeshaly chase 10, the pathing to victory was wild) but that match was seven rounds long and the victory felt estatic. plus even thou their usualy 1 to 2 rounds long it is a mini match before the actual match
