My mazda cx9 2008 300,000 km mileage. The route is 4 km. The check engine light comes on. It stops for 15 minutes. I'm moving on. Everything works fine, engine shows no temperature increase. Another 2km I hear the cooling fan, after a while again. I turn off the engine, I don't know what's going on. The temperature does not exceed 90⁰C. The engine ran completely silent. There is no fluid under the hood. Mud on the cork. The oil dipstick shows 2-3 liters above the good condition of the oil. The car is at the mechanic now. In a few days I will want to change the water pump and timing belt. Clean the oil pan and valve covers. 2 oil changes and engine flush. I hope I didn't damage the engine. I was driving very slowly. What do you think? Any chance the engine isn't dead?

@@JetSkiBuyFixPlaySellChannel its different for everyone. Mine lasted since 2008 and I'm literally gonna change it tomorrow. I have a 2008 Mazda CX-9. Other than this, the brake booster, and a few solenoids, I have never had an issue mechanically with this vehicle. She's been a great girl.

Mazda dealer mechanic told me mine is in need of replacement and instead of offering to replace the part they quote me nearly 7000 dollars to replace/rebuild the engine... I just want to replace the thing thats broken... im willing to pay for the part and the labor. 6000 dollars seems like robbery. Whats a fair price for this job?
@jprowland3 жыл бұрын
Local dealer recommended this replacement when the car was in for an oil service (156k miles) and quoted over $4000 for just the water pump, something like a 20 hour job. Apparently this thing is a beast to get to. In 2015 or so they went back to a Mazda engine and it's far more reasonable.
@mikesuniverse17893 жыл бұрын
@@jprowland i didn't know they stopped using the ford engine. I'm guessing the new Mazda engine has the water pump in a more accessible place. I also wonder if that motor is interchangeable with the motor in the 08 fwd. At any rate I'm having the water pump changed for $2800 on Monday. I figure it's an investment in maintaining a quality machine.

My water pump just failed on my 2010 CX 9. Thank goodness it happened at 199,456 miles! Just bought tires a year ago. I am not going to put anymore money into it. Only had two wheel bearings go bad. I really wanted to make it to 200,000 on a vehicle for the first time. I think I will go back to Toyota or Hyundai for the 10 year/100,000 miles warranty.
