The trick.... Let them follow you up to a big rock, get a whole bunch of 'em right behind then drop the rock on them! The more you kill at once, the points increase dramatically. Then you can get the "diamonds" which is rare but happens when you kill them at once (again, the rock trick). I was a Mr. Do! champ in my neighborhood circa 1983.
@TYNEPUNK2 жыл бұрын
are you saying the chance of the diamond is increased by killing multiple enemies at once?
@DJ_G-Rod2 жыл бұрын
@@TYNEPUNK Yes, I have noticed it a lot more by killing multiple enemies at one time. Even making a trail for them from the bottom up to the top, find a rock up there. By this time multitudes of enemies should be following behind. You should be able to smash a large amount of enemies at once and also get substantially better bonus points! These are the times you will notice the "diamonds" appear more frequently. Doesn't happen a lot, but the chances improve, noticeably.

After every x3, x6 and x9 screen you'll get the "Very Good" summary and every 10th screen gives you the "Wonderful" summary - the layouts repeat after each "Wonderful" screen with only the color patterns changing each cycle. You can also get extra lives (the monsters wandering around with the alphabet letters) and a free game (if a diamond appears!) - the "free game" doesn't act as a continue though, it just lets you play another game for free after your current one ends.
@ClassicTVMan1981X8 жыл бұрын
+Gordon Taylor The colored backgrounds reset after 30 screens. On the ColecoVision version, there are only 10 colored backgrounds which all cycle again (11-20, 21-30, etc.) while the Atari 2600 version had 16 colored backgrounds which, as I said before, cycle again (17-32, 33-48, etc.).

@kenbob10716 жыл бұрын
This was my favorite arcade game to play in the 80s. Dude, you're not using those apples to their full potential. You've got to drop them one level then push them slightly to block a vertical passage and wait for those monster things to pile up underneath. That way you can take out a bunch at once. So satisfying. And no diamond?? Aye!

I have played this game a thousand times and never once have I allowed that many enemies on the screen at one time, and not died. Unless some chicanery was in play, there simply is no way to pursue this "cherries" method and survive after, say, level 4. This dude left thousands of points on the board by not killing the enemies or getting the bonus item in the center.

Mr. Do. The object of the game is to score as many points as possible while clearing the stages. While the player can move Mr. Do in four directions, he or she must take care to avoid monsters and falling apples, or else a life will be lost. In each stage, the player has many ways to clear the stage. One way is by collecting all the cherries; collecting eight of them without stopping will award a bonus. The next way is to eliminate all the red unicorn monsters; the player can either use Mr. Do's power balls to knock them out or drop an apple on them to crush them. The Alphamonster may occasionally appear on the stage, especially when you collect the bonus in the center. The Alphamonster and its blue minions eat apples, but they all turn into them if the Alphamonster is knocked out with a power ball. Crushing it with an apple or hitting it with a power ball will earn you the letter it has; once you have spelled "EXTRA", you will earn an extra life and clear the stage. Occasionally, a dropped apple will reveal a diamond, which awards an extra game and clears the stage. Once the player loses all of his or her lives, the game is over. The high score table keeps a record of the highest scores earned during play, the last stage played, and the total amount of time spent playing.
