I think about this topic SO often. Unfortunately for the past decade we seem to be stuck in the “graphics wars” gamers only give a fuck if their games are “pretty” anymore. Doesn’t have to be good, doesn’t have to have a great storyline, doesn’t even have to be hard. As long as it “looks pretty” and realistic. I’ve noticed whenever companies are brave enough to make games outside the norm they get shit on anymore

The main gripe with this game is how fast Klaymen moves when he jumps. I dunno, I think you feel it more in the first few stages, where your brain still assumes that, after a jump, your movement in mid-air is slower than while running, but the thing is, it isn't. There is usually some acceleration and momentum, but here, there's no acceleration, Klaymen always moves at the speed he either walks or runs, and that makes precise jumps more difficult, especially when you want to land on a fast moving platform or enemy. Other than that, the game seems to be a treat! Spectacular cutscenes and music, great art direction, the Level themes can get real creative and, while the bosses are criminally easy and there isn't that much variety in terms of platforming elements or gimmicks, there's still enough to keep you interested, like the floating snowballs, timed platforms, shrinking hearts and enlarging chevrons, glidey birds and air streams, lift beams, climbable vines, platforms on rails and hologram platforms, as well as the Amazing Drivy Finn and the Incredible Drivy Runn, which occasionally spice up the experience.

@@notinmyworld8239 I came here after 3 years to watch all the cutscenes from the Neverhood and remind myself of my favourite game of my childhood and I found an old Doug Tennapel comic titled "Klato". You can find it on The Neverhood Wiki. Basically it a klaymen-ish character that says he is the grandson of Klayman and he wants to be a hero like his grandpa was (and he cuts his arm with his sword by accident). So it confirms the fact that Klaymen survived and maybe got back to the Neverhood. I guess Hoborg found him/teleported him. Considering how Armikrog turned out I don't think Doug has a plan for a game like TNH, sadly.
