For some reason the way the refs officiate rules for 7s these days the penalty count seems excessively high? Maybe it's the "Jackal Rule" from 15s and there's too much technical interpretation needed from the ref when the players are competing for the ball leading to penalties as the outcome for either attacker or defender. It's almost like netball with the peeping of the whistle. It seems too much these days compared to how 7s used to be?

Fijian players of today lack a lot of the skills, discipline and size of their predecessors. I remember the 2015-2016 Fiji team Big boys with exceptional skills. This Fiji team does not have that.

Whether you play 15s, 13s, 9s or 7s, contest it or not, feed it to the hooker or to the back of the scrum doesn't really matter. The main goal of a scrum is binding forwards from both teams to an area so the other players have more space to attack in the next phase.
