I think South Africa is the country that taught Japan how wonderful rugby is. We would like to thank the players from Japan and South Africa in the 2015 match and all the teams that made the 2019 World Cup exciting. Thanks to you, I love rugby! I will support you as a Japanese so that the Japanese team can become stronger and revenge! Let's do our best until the day when everyone can smile and get seriously excited about sports! ☺

Actually. It was Eddie Jones that taught Japan everything about Rugby. Before Japan hired Eddie Jones as the head coach for their International Rugby team. Japan would always prepare themselves to lose a game. When Eddie Jones took over as the head coach, he worked hard to change their mindset from preparing to lose to preparing to win. It was not easy for him to do but he he took the job on and put 110% percent in to get the job done. He used the saying, putting in 100% is not enough in any sport but it is that extra half % that makes the difference. Remember in the 2015 RWC. Japan had won 3 out of 4 games. SA was not the first team that Japan had beaten in that world cup but it was the first team of the top 4 teams in world that Japan had beaten. All the work that was put into making Japans Rugby what it was in RWC2015 is all thanks to Eddie Jones and The Japanese Rugby team.

@@McDADDyK total BS statement. There are two actual South Africans. And one half Zimbabwean and Japanese player (Matsushita). Not sure how in your mind that = half a South African team. That statement is more true of something like the US team.
@Sabundy
@Sabundy 3 жыл бұрын
@@juniorjaybrown7465 all true. And you make great points. But I think the person was referring to the popularity of rugby as a sport in Japan. Even in 2015 rugby was still a little known sport in Japan. Until the 2019 world cup the vast majority of Japanese people had never even seen a rugby game. And I think watching the Springboks win the Rugby world cup teaching Japan as a country about rugby (as in most people watched it and then knew about rugby) was what the person meant.

@@Blomrutger not sure if you still wanna know but basically the Japanese #1 entered the ruck from the side in an attempt to clear out de Allende (SA #12) who contested the ruck. You must enter the ruck through an “imaginary gate” which is usually right over the ball. You can’t clear out or contest the ruck from the side. Hope that helped🤣

Finn Thornton landed around the shoulder area so it’s a yellow, if the player landed on the neck area or above, that would be a straight red. That’s the law.

I'm not usually a fan of this kind of talk because it feels disrespectful but in this case it's more than warranted because Barnes did a pretty awful job reffing this one. DeAllende's try was good and Matsushima should have gotten a yellow.

I still insist 1:09:46 was a clear red card! Regardless of which team you support, Matsushima did an airborne ninja move on Mapimpi, and this awful English ref should be relegated to officiating chicken fights in my village! That’s all for now.

Watch from 1:09:39, Mapimpi mispositioned himself so that he effectively blocked any reasonable challenge to the ball while he could still pretending his right arm has a chance in getting the ball. That's a clever play from Mapimpi - Japan took the bait and a penalty is all it is.

When de Allende went down to his knees he was not being held by anyone so he was in his right to get back up and keep going. Japan do it all the time it's practically their signature. Barnes should have taken it to TMO and given SA the try. Edit: Rewatching this game I retract this statement. de Allende was indeed held by the first tackler when his knee touched the ground and it was in fact a penalty. That was a yellow on Matsushima. He took Mapimpi out by the neck. It wasn't malicious, but that doesn't matter. Rules are rules. Someone should tell Barnes.

When ppl say the boks has an easy road to the final...I was like what????? We played the host nation who beat Ireland on the group stage. A team that beat us in 2015 that not easy for me nd then we played wales in the semis north hemisphere champs nd it's was the north vs south champs nd we did the south proud so no they were no easy road there

We had an easy hard road we had the easiest group, even though we lost to the all blacks that was our only challenge We played a tier 2 nation in the quarter final but we had a very tough game against wales which made up for that and England were having a bad day on the final but we probably would have still beat them

I've said this on other threads. SA played every pool winner of the world cup and came out on top in the end. There's a reason why no one has lost a pool game and gone on to win the world cup. If you come second in the group, your route is made that much more difficult because you have to then play and beat the winner of another pool. Winning your pool group guarantees an easier route to the finals.
