Fun Fact: The Average Crash Statistic of a DC-9 per the amount of Planes that was Produced was 5.8% While the 747 was only 3.75 compared to all 747s produced.

Nah, Boeing was always like this. Lada Air 767 thrust reverser crash in 1991 followed by the 737 Rudder Hardover crashes also in 1991 and later 1996 + 1997 (Even the 747-400 had rudder issues with Northwest Flight 85 in 2002, plane was manufactured prior to the merger) McDonnell Douglas had little to do with where Boeing ended up today

the DC-10 had a flaw with the cargo bay door that allowed it to be shut and show that it was latched when it was in fact not latched. this led to the cargo door bursting open mid-flight causing explosive de-compression. this led to a series of crashes, eventually culminating in the Turkish airlines flight 981 crash which was the deadliest crash at the time.

The merging of a company experienced only with the bureaucratic nature of military contracts with a company that only went civilian with a few military contract experience isn't exactly a match in heaven. (Talking about McDonnell merging with Douglas)

technically McDonell Douglas because their management basically killed the Boeing everyone knew and rebranded themselves as Boeing before anyone noticed.
