Now, create an ACTUAL plasma gun: Hollow out a "plasma ignition chamber" within the body of the gun, and when you hit the trigger it fills with a measured amount of "Tibanna gas" (actually some other medium that will convert to plasma when hit with high voltage), Then, create a means to transfer that plasma to an "acceleration system" that forces the hot plasma out of the barrel at high velocity. Walla! PLASMA BLASTER!! Personally, I think we have the technology to actually create something like this, and It's going to be a personal project of mine over the summer! But in any case, great job!

You could score the rounds in a multiple spiral pattern from tip to tracer charge(let's say an octohelical spiral with a depth of 15% of the radius of the round, 20% for hexagelical grooves, 25% for quadrahelical grooves, and 30% for tetrahelical grooves. Note I strongly recommend against using double helical grooves, due to the risk of the round splitting. Or that if you do, don't cut any deeper than 35% of the radius of the round in order to reduce that risk) and pack the grooves of the spiral with the same tracer compound. Next step is probably the hardest part, you'll have to seal the round with an extremely thin layer of wax. In order to make sure you maintain the bullets gas seal, and ensure the tracer compound remains in the grooves as it travels down the barrel it has to be just think enough. But not so thick that it'll gum up the rifling, or prevent the tracer compound in the base from ignite the grooves, or causing the compound in the grooves to extinguish. And if you can you and increase the size of the hollow point (if it has one) and drill a 1/32 in hole in the center to the tracer charge, and pack the hole and hollow with tracer compound. Your finished round should consist of 50% tracer compound (including the original tracer charge) and 50% of the original bullet, with the thin wax seal being relatively negligible because if you get it just right the wax will just burn up as soon as it leaves the barrel. Then carefully seat the modified tracer bullet back into it's brass and reseal the bullet and brass according to the specifications of the ammunition you choose to modify. And technically at that point it's a metalic core plasma tracer round.

I've theorized that Blasters eject their plasma of a ring, like blowing a smoke ring. The magnetic fields work out great for this as they wrap around it, this also explains why the stun setting on the blaster looks like a ring, it's just allowing higher expansion while the normal bolt we see the ring is so tight we cant see the hole in the middle and most of it's aparent length is just leakage.

"Laws" are stupid. 8:24 Called it. 10:31 False. You can get a full set of aftermarket wood furniture in various styles for various Stoner-based rifles. It's super-snazz. 11:37 A lot of Star Wars weapons seem to be that way, including Din Djarin's disruptor rifle. In practical real-world terms, that would allow for iron sights (or let's say a range-finder or some such) so you can have a combo setup for fighting at variable distances, allowing the user to change tactics on the fly. 14:29 You might know this already, but the reason the good guys shoot red and the bad guys shoot green in Star Wars is because those were the colors of Allied and Axis tracers IRL during WW2. Or at least American and German, respectively.

Actually when I read about these blasters at a suprisingly young age it did say that the blasters do fire actual projectiles, and at such immense spead that it escapes the plasma which envelopes it and basically pulls the plasma behind The projectile itself. The projectile initially penetrates, and then the following up plasma does burning and electrical damage. It happens so quickly and the round itself is moving far to quickly to see. Even the plasma would be difficult to see if it werent glowing. It would be good for fighting both organic targets and robotic targets like drones/droids. Take note of the actual designs of the blasters. Notice that they actually use magazines. The books i was reading had these blown up super in depth colored diagram illustrations and had every component labeled.

The test near the beginning doesn't necessarily prove that there are ions in a flame. It could simply be that the heat or chemical composition of the flame lowers the dielectric breakdown voltage of the air, which would allow a spark to cross a greater gap. Furthermore, showing ions in air does not mean it has to be a plasma. A plasma is a collection of ions, but that is not a bijection. Not all collections of ions are plasmas. Salt dissolves in water into ions, which increases the conductivity of water. That isn't a plasma. While it's hard to imagine some chemical dissolving in air, it's not impossible, and that would also produce ions.
@Paul-cu9lu7 ай бұрын
One theory I have heard about is having a dual system. The gun first fires a laser at the target, thus creating a pathway for the plasma to follow. The charged plasma is then released to travel down the length of the laser to the target. Since this is all happening at such high speeds, the laser only needs to exist for a short time. It then just comes down to how much energy the plasma can transfer to the target in order to do damage via thermal and / or kinetic.

Really great video, I love the creativity and innovation of the design. on the other hand, Star Wars blasters run on Tabana gas cartridges, and they inject a small amount at a time to create an extremely energy dense plasma bolt. I do understand that it doesn't exist, but maybe butane?

That's pretty cool! I don't know how legal it would be, but to get more of a "blaster bolt" effect, maybe you could get plugs of pure tracer compound, and tip them with a mildly explosive head? That would probably make it REALLY bright, and burn on impact. You'd probably get even more of a colored "flash" as the tracer plug shattered on impact and burnt even more brightly as the vaporized tracer compound flash-burned like an aerosolized explosive tends to do. Wouldn't be very dangerous either. It would certainly hurt to get hit with it and burn, but wouldn't be able to penetrate a target much. You could even hand-load the bullets with a lower powder charge to get a slower projectile that has more travel time, less noise, recoil, and would be easier to see due to slower movement.

Idk if those tracers can be subsonic but they should be. So they can be as slow and loud as real blaster bolts.

Long eye-relief scopes are also used on rifles for certain applications. It allows faster target acquisition for closer ranges. An example of a rifle with this style of scope would be a scout rifle

Colour me seriously impressed, Jake. Excellent crafting skills and none too shabby at presenting either :D

The kids at the playground screamed "incoming!' and that's why they weren't in the video.😂

The candle flame experiment doesn't prove that fire contains ions. The fire from the candlestick is superheating the air in and around it. Causing the molecules to be further apart and more excited, thus giving it less capacitance than normal room temperature air. You would most likely see similar results from a heat gun, with no fire present at all.
