Max Heaspace9mm purpose leaves it out of the video title and description in an attempt to clickbait his video. Even worse, the video is 12 minutes long and not a round is fired. @@blairbuskirk5460 That totally explains the heavy handed anti-2A gun laws in places like New Jersey, New York, and California, ESPECIALLY California, and Democrats attempt to try the same thing in Washington State. Aaron Timm it depends on the gun. Some 22s aren't made right and will dent the barrel but some are just fine with dry firing like my Beretta 21a which has no slide lock back but the firing pin cannot hit the chamber. My friends Daewoo DP 52 which is a Walther pp copy has an odd firing pin that has an extra piece above the part that hits the rim of the round that stops it from smacking the back of the barrel.

That's a muzzle brake not a Flash hider. Your description of how it functions proves that when you control recoil you are describing a muzzle brake when you hide the Flash with elongated spines you are talking about a Flash hider. There are muzzle devices that do both or try to. But there is a clear difference between the 2 concepts. By the way I love your channel I still have learned a lot from you
@MaxHeadspace9mm6 жыл бұрын
Hector Morales Thanks! And I am learning a lot from you too!🤔
@kathrynck6 жыл бұрын
Actually, since it only vents upward, it would be considered a compensator rather than a muzzle brake. (although the two are related, and many muzzle brakes incorporate comps, and many comps incorporate some muzzle brake, and they work using the same concept). side thought: to be fair, the fin-like shape of the comp would also work extremely well as a flash hider, preventing muzzle flash light from exiting towards the ground/sides. In rifle calibers flash hiders are extremely pointless, but in a carbine firing 22LR or pistol ammo, a flash hider like this could work very well.

Einstein said "true ingenuity is often met with resistance from mediocre minds". This is also true in the gun world." That is a truly awesome and innovative gun. Kind of spendy, but I think well worth it. Unfortunately at this point I've already made a splurge of gun buys since after the first of the year assault weapons like a 10/22 (cough cough) will require special hoops to jump through. Maybe one more!!!!! One of my purchases was a Ruger charger since it is just plain lot of fun. And of all things, the other is an AR 15. As for expensive- I agree; if you’re gonna pay $700 plus for a .22 it had better be magic. Or at least have features that are extremely important and rare. But there are a few other $700+ .22 rifles out there. And this is my personal favorite. But I think you’re on the right track! Every household needs an AR15. ( you can bump fire those too with practice). We just have to know in our hearts that even though the anti gun crowd thinks we all must be closet mass murderers we have a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of that which makes us happy.

I've seen a lot of guns in my 64 yrs and I am a Army Veteran but I have never seen or noticed this Rifle but for the price I wouldn't mind having one,are they on any State Ban list being a 22 with 100 round clip?
@MaxHeadspace9mm6 жыл бұрын
Augustine Sullivan Oh yes. Any state with capacity bans won’t allow it. And to my knowledge there is no way of modifying the mag to only accept 10 rounds. Haha! I wonder if you ditched the mag altogether and fed the rounds into the chamber one at a time if that would make big brother happy😆. But seriously California’s strict laws forced Calico to move out. Actually it’s more involved than that. The assault weapons ban put them out of business and then when it expired the new owners moved the company to Oregon. And they are making these to this day. Problem is Oregon lawmakers ( or should I say “infringement” makers) are pushing a bill now that if passed would be some of the strictest gun laws in the country. God help us.

Typhoon Ninja I did a video titled, “Calico M100” and it’s a shooting review so you can see it is possible to be reliable. And btw, yes it’s made in Hillsborough Oregon 😉

If they rechambered this in 9mm, this could have a niche as home defense PCC or maybe a carbine in the back of a cop car. Think about it, that drum could probably hold about 50 rounds of 9mm, which yes is massive overkill for anything realistically foreseeable for home defense, but if you've seen the round count for police shootouts, it may be a viable option. My entire idea though is pretty much just a poorer designed SA PP-19 Bizon, but I doubt they will ever be a option unfortunately
@MaxHeadspace9mm6 жыл бұрын
deadfishbrohoof Actually you must be a prophet. This design was originally created to get police and military contracts. This company specializes in pistols and long guns with 50 and 100 round variants in both 22 and 9mm. All from helical fed mags. So everything you said is true to the purpose and design of this firearm. I’ve often thought that with one of these a person would be prepared for pretty much anything. As for the PP19-Bizon that design appeared soon after Mikhail Kalashnikov was given one of these Calicos as a gift by an American shooting buddy. So the Calico predates the Bizon by about 20 years. 🤔

primaldebow Yes. It’s a pretty common practice with larger caliber rifles. I even have a 12 gauge shotgun that has one and it makes the biggest difference. In fact 9mm version of this gun was used in sf and swat team in the kicking door jobs when it was invented about 20 years ago. Does it have drawback? Yes, the magazine hold so much rounds that most soldiers lost count and forget to change mag. Believe it or not, soldiers dream of guns that have large mag, when they have it, they forget to change mag. Anything goes wrong? Blame the gun. Stoppage? Blame the gun, disregard the fact that they just fire 10 mags or more without cleaning. That is 1000 rounds. So be it they deserve to stick to gun design to hold a 30 round mag and have their pocket and pouch full of half empty mags.

D Sandoval Haha! Yeah. The first time I ever saw one it was the one I have and I bought it right away. It had too many of the features I love in a firearm not to. The only thing I didn’t care for was the name. Didn’t make sense for a gun. But years later someone in the comments told me the name was thought up by the founder of the company and it is an abbreviated combo of the words California and company. Cali co. So I guess it makes a little sense if you know the reason behind it. But they later moved when California started getting abusive to the gun community where it’s lawmakers are concerned. First to Nevada then to Oregon. I bet if they changed to a cooler name they would sell a lot more of these🤔.

Max Headspace9mm Ohhhhhhhh... That makes sense now. Unfortunately, I live in California. On this subject if you have time to respond... I know it's a tall order but I need a plan ASAP and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@MaxHeadspace9mm6 жыл бұрын
D Sandoval I have a similar history to your plan. I moved from Cali when they became too meddlesome and liberal to stomach any more. I now live in Oregon and like it very much in most ways. Pros- a tremendous variety of climates and natural beauty, low cost of living and gun freedom as well as a lot of really decent people. Cons- lots of gun hating liberals in the government who somehow always seem to be able to stack the deck towards their agenda despite the will of the voters. In Oregon I would say Bend and eastern Oregon are good places to look. Bend is affluent with lots of opportunity and generally pretty conservative values. Idaho may be an even easier place for you to find what you are looking for though. Washington state has a good economy but is terribly liberal in their politics and are becoming more anti gun all the time.

I bought one when they first came out. Very reliable if a bit particular for either hot rounds or heavy rounds though the ejector could break after 10-20k rounds. I think most of the complaints you have heard about Calico is actually the 9mm. They have the rear sights on the mag and are very ammo finicky.
@MaxHeadspace9mm5 жыл бұрын
David Knight That’s probably true. Though I’ve heard people who have them and rave about them. This design by its very nature is more complex than others. And where there is complexity there will be an increase in user error and things that can go wrong mechanically. Pretty much the rifle itself is as simple as a Ruger 10/22. It’s the helical mags which provide a place for gremlins to hide. But as someone who’s taken them apart and fixed and maintained them I believe they can be conquered. It’s a great system and once a person gets used to it it has a load of advantages.

I have loved the Calico brand since I first saw a Liberty as a teen in the movie "I Come In Peace" (mediocre action movie, but really cool looking guns for a teen!) I got to hold, but not fire, an M900 years ago at a gun club meeting. Always wanted to own one for myself, but heard that the older ones had serious problems, which was a major disappointment. I will say that I've heard nothing but good things about the new production, though what I've heard has been few and far between. I have always thought that what makes it so cool is that it DOESN'T look like every other gun out there. Kinda the same reason I love the P-90 so much, though there are lots of technical reasons for that too! Thanks for the video!

The assault weapons ban bankrupted the company and then it got going again after the ban expired but had to move out of California because California made anti gun laws that made it impossible for them to manufacture there and the company closed then was sold and moved to Nevada then Oregon. So it’s been a tough road for them.

I own 3 Calico rifles, one in .22 two in 9mm. All run like a clock. But to address the rear sight issue the 9mm models do have the rear sight mounted on the magazine. On a very big plus side Calico still stands behind all their firearms will fix/rebuild at very reasonable costs. IMO this is a must have gun.

Mark Pro I’ve never regretted getting mine. Kids and spouse love it. I love it. What’s not to love? I even like to look at it. It’s a famous movie prop! It don’t look like your grampas .22!
