Which one is the world's most powerful metal detector?Join me in a discussion of which metal detector is the most powerful of them all. I will go over all its features and strengths. Also, this is NOT a sponsored video, its just my opinion. I don’t sell detectors, I am just an experienced detector user telling you what I have learned about the detectors that are out there on the market.

Your book and your videos are awesome. Today (without a detector) I applied your principles while I was hiking, looking at the rocks how they must have fallen down this mountain blown by wind and rain and followed the trail up and with only my eyes I saw a piece of quartz with gold in it - my son was blown away as I’m teaching him what I’m learning...can’t wait till my detector finally arrives! Thanks so much Chris.

Thank you Chris for all of the info. I have been researching metal detectors for the past few months and yesterday I bought a Zed. Your book (fistful of dollars) was filled with pertinent information that helped me decide on the right detector for me. Low and behold, I found this video right after my purchase and I can say it helped ease my mind on the financial burden placed on my pocket book. Now, if I can just get my wife to watch it..I have been metal detecting since 1986. The machines today have come along way. My At pro struggles to find anything small (gram or less) and this is mainly what I’ll be searching for in southeast Alaska. Keep up the great work, you are a fantastic teacher and I enjoy all your videos!

Hello Chris, what would you recommend for finding gold or silver coins for depths up to 6ft? What other metal detectors are there that would meet my needs or at least close to that depth?
@ChrisRalph
@ChrisRalph 4 жыл бұрын
Coins are too small a target to see at 6 feet. Lots of detectors could see an engine block or a 55 gallon drum at 6 feet, but you need a large single piece of metal to see that depth. Coins, even a large jar full of coins is too small to detect at that depth.

One thing i would add is IF its in a iron case, chest or something iron then the iron as it oxidizes then the iron leaches into the surrounding soil and makes it "appear" as a lot bigger target. I had the experience of this as I dug and dug... and dug and finally found what was setting my detector off. It was an old wagon wheel center hub that had rusted over the last 100+ years. I thought for sure I found a buried treasure chest!! LOL!!

@@OriginalMasters my entire dry river bed from the ice age is between 3 to 5ft deep, thinking I need to go the magnetometer route. maybe even spikes in the ground. Is currently virgin land under an ancient forest and impossible to enter, we tried to clear a path but it grew in faster than we could keep it open, never did drive down it but was still shy by several hundred feet of the zone, very rough terrain with massive holes from ancient fallen trees in the clays leading up to the boulder field.

@ChrisRalph
@ChrisRalph 5 ай бұрын
The AT Pro is really more a detector designed for coins and relics than gold. The gold version is the AT Gold. That said if the gold in the ore is large enough and the specimen close enough to the surface your detector could see it. But the gold has to be good sized - like half a pea or half a bean.

They see great depth, but are not sensitive to smaller metal objects, especially nuggets. If you are looking for a big metal treasure box with a cache of hundreds of silver dollars inside, then they are great. If you are looking for nuggets or even single coins in the ground, they are terrible.

Very entertaining. I doubt I'll ever be able to afford this machine, but I have an old Minelab Eureka Gold that goes surprisingly deep. We are moving back to Reno for good soon, can't wait to get into the Sierras to find old mining camps and streams that have new gold every year. I saved this video and the one you mentioned that compares detectors. It seems as if the 800 is a good machine for relics and coins, may try to get one of those for my wife. There is very little gold here in Missouri, our temporary location. It is easy to hunt for coins and relics, though, since there is hardly any mineralization. Would like to find a Union and Confederate bullet before leaving. There was a lot of Civil War activity near us. Thanks for listening!

G'day Chris, you will probably have to make a new update video because of the newer GPX6000. The 6000 is finding gold that the 7000 has missed by seasoned prospectors. And it's as easy as the GoldMonster 1000 to use, and just as light! Some 7000 owners are now using the 6000.
@ChrisRalph
@ChrisRalph Жыл бұрын
The 6000 is amazing on tiny gold, but on bigger gold buried deeper, the 7000 is still tops - it is still Minelab's flagship detector. Good on tiny and deep penetrating are two totally different things.

I want to get into metal detecting and prospecting. I also want to find relics. More, I want to now find a 3" cast iron sewer drain pipe in my yard and it might be 2 or 3 or 4 feet deep, or a little more. What metal detector can BOTH do a good job for gold prospecting as well as serving such a mundane purpose as finding the 3" cast iron sewer drain pipe in my yard (2 or 3 or 4 feet deep, or more). Anyone have any recommendations. If you have several suggestions, what are the price differences?
@ChrisRalph
@ChrisRalph 3 жыл бұрын
Its a tough one to do both - like asking for a car that will do 200 miles per hour at a race track but also get 50 miles per gallon driving on the highway. The GPZ with the optional 20 inch coil could do it, but is really expensive.

I have 2 questions for you. Even though I know that you specialize in searching for gold, do you think this detector could detect 25 lbs of gold bars at a maximum depth of 3 feet out in a field away from trash? And do you think this detector could detect a basic metal ammo box at a maximum depth of 3 feet out in a field away from trash? I cannot thank you enough for your time with answering these questions and if you have another detector that you recommend that would be better for searching for the targets mentioned and at that depth, please share with me. Thanks again!

G'day Chris, I am in Australia, kalgoorlie to be precise, and I currently have a GP Extreme (4 monos of varying sizes 6"-14", an 11" AI, and two DD's of 10" and 14"), I was wondering, given the nature of the areas I've been to, literally trash-laden with old bullets, coke cans, I even once saw a shopping trolly full of decomposing crud in it, half buried! What kind of rig would you personally use in these kinds of areas, and do you have any tips to help me figure out the best coils to use in these kinds of terrains? Generally in those areas, although I know there is gold in the ground, I'm only getting a hit on 1 out of 10 targets, and generally it sounds pretty much the same when detecting aluminium/ironstone/hot rocks/etc. and actual gold nuggets or speccys. Is there a way to improve my results with the gear I have? And if not, what kind of rig would you use in these areas? I love your videos and have found quite a bit of small stuff using a mono 11" and 6" , tracing ancient riverbeds, the areas around abandoned mine sites and flat, unlittered, or lightly littered areas, but since coming from Ballarat region to Kalgoorlie, I haven't found a great deal, so far around 3.8g in the last few months of mainly sub gram alluvials. Any input would be appreciated greatly, thanks. -Zeeke

I live in Australia and have owned a GPX 5000 ever since it came out and i do fine with it ,i would not buy a 7000 for the main reason it needs deep ground to out perform the 5000 and most of our gold fields are fairly shallow ,sure in the occassional instance of deep 3 feet wash it has the edge or deep reefs that were missed it outperforms but like the states patches and reefs are getting harder to find. I have worked with guys that own the 7000 and at the end of the day they are stuffed ,way unbalanced and cumbersome, and the tally of nuggets was not overly impressive either i would say around 10 - 15 % better on virgin ground ,and old ground that i had worked the 7000 picked up a couple of small nugs but did not really out shine over my 5000 .If i was to buy a 7000 it would only be if i got out of the average prospectors comfort zone and headed 2-3 days drive out where their are no dirt roads just bush and found a large virgin patch with the 5000 first ,GPS the position and go back and hit it with a 7000 but i would not sell my 5000 .Besides the 5000 can be pushed for depth with the rx gain ,also it has many compatible coils for small to large gold,and you can use a d/d coil to disgriminate the iron junk out.In Aus dollars the 7000 is around the 10k mark and the 5000 around 6k. Any way thats my take on this comparison that is my view ,but without doubt minelab are the best around for a gold machine,the 7000 you can turn on and go but to get the best out of the 5000 takes some time and practice but it is a multi functional machine . take care, Dave from AUS .

Sombody already asked this question and didn't get an answer, is there a gold medal detector that can detect gold items at 5 or 6 feet deep, if so wich brand is it and how much would it cost???
@ChrisRalph
@ChrisRalph 2 жыл бұрын
What is the size and weight of the target? The size of the target makes a huge difference. A ladies earring weighing a gram or two would only be detected at maybe 8 inches. A solid gold cross weighing 50 pounds would be seen by this detector at 6 feet. A wooden box containing 50 pounds of gold coins might be seen at 3 feet as its the weight of the largest of the largest piece, not the combined weight. If its in a steel box that is large, the box might be seen by the detector at 6 feet. So it is a complex question that cannot be answered the way you asked it. Ignorantly insisting on a simple yes or no answer when I have no idea what you are searching for shows you do not know enough about metal detectors to ask a question like that.
