Keep in mind that a Sailor doesn't have to fight haters! It's Your Ship! Whether you are on shore leave or on the Boat! Think about it. Sailing is a whole lot like life, and what it gives you. There will be storms and rain and incidents and trials and frustration and Joy and accomplishment and Learning and So Much More than just making others happy and having them he haters. To do that is envy, You took the step and are living The Life! I would have to send a Novel to Splain myself and then I would get Haters too! Roflmao. It's Your Dream your choice and hopefully you will be Loved by many because of your Good Nature and ability to enjoy what you are doing whether on the boat or shore. You are still the Captain of Your Ship. I thought I was a Subscriber! Just not so we'll funded the last few years. I would support So very many in the Sailing Community, and have been planning something! My bride of 42 years went to heaven and The Ship (Me) has been in the boatyard Neglected for too long and ready to do a refit! The older I get the more I realized that I'm no different than when i was a teenager...just a bit jaded here and there. I'm definitely still a kid, and I'm convinced everyone else is as well, but they feel the need to cover it up. Be the kid that you know you are, but more importantly, what are you going to build? I want in!

@@david_shih several projects. Imagine pulling into a marina and not having to hook-up to their electricity! Picture a sailing community where insurance/assurance rates are below $4,500.00/yr to go anywhere. i am having my first sailing vessel built. It is a 72' x 38' catamaran. Nope , no realpractical sailing experience however, the builder's key man is taking a month off in order to teach me and i will be taking a 10 day course during the build. All electric. If i can properly install a gyro, i won't even need solar panels!!! Incinerator toilet and 2 composting toilets No black water!

@@david_shih The gyro is to stablize the actual generator. Mch like movie cameras. With this i could use this pertetual motion device to supply electricity while under sail. The device can supply energy for 2 , 2700 ft/2 homes!!!!. No more diesel, no more wind blades>>>>> Yes, perpetual. It works on magnetic fields not hydro or wind :)

@@david_shih Absolutely. Certainly worth talking to somebody who specialises in patent law, etc and find out. The off the shelf parts you obviously can't patent, but the way they're put together.... A proper adaptor (rather than bits of wood and zip ties) might be the key here.

I have noticed that a lot of the broken bulkheads, and trim that you , and Colin replaced were nothing more than cake. Why would you put anything more in a boat than beautiful blond bamboo. If you got a chain saw, and replaced all wood and paneling to be three times stronger than aluminum. This is more beautiful, and, and less work than Colin did on his boat. I know this is only good for he next person that has a bulkhead problem.

I suspect it will be because of the wieght of the bamboo would put the cat lower in the water and make it slower. Boat speed and handeling is always a tradeoff between having the strongest materials to having the lightest.

@@Timbo_tango Dendro callimus asperniger from Asia, and herculaian bamboo from Columbia are the strongest bamboo in the world. Performance cats are made of aluminum they are both light, and strong. A cubic foot of aluminum would take over 4,300,000 pounds to rip it apart. the same block of bamboo would take over 4,000,000 pounds to rip it apart. The block of aluminum weighs 166 pounds, and the block of bamboo weighs 20 pounds. 166 pounds of bamboo would take over 35,300,000 to rip it apart.

I'm finally getting to make stuff! Always looked up to inventors like edison or davinci. I'm headed back to the boat tomorrow to start bringing her home! Once we're here we'll be moving aboard, selling the house, and starting to cruise full time! I'll convert one of the cabins into a workshop and keep the inventing alive!
