The kids were respectful the moment they met them and then the mom just went out of her way to disrespect them and their privacy by going into their bags. The most mature and mutually respectful thing to do was just ask them to empty out their bags because they don’t want things such as cigarettes in their house. Respect is earned.

I know that’s so sad, I sympathise with any kid who’s been through that. I’m middle-aged and my parents had me late in life, but I lost them at 88 and 90, I was considerably older than Sadie. There’s no feeling of being cheated out of anything. I couldn’t imagine it at 12. Hell, I was so lucky.

Taught preschool for 25 years. Two and three year olds typically *want to help and *want to do what their parents do, playing house all the time. So…teach them to care for their environment and their stuff, while it’s still fun! Make them feel confident and competent. Hope you never have kids... While disciplining is necessary, literally stalking your own children is creepy as hell. Where is the "honesty is the best policy" if they cannot practice honesty themselves?? "Hugging is their bedrock..." Why would it be? They are so religious, but their hugs comes before God. These parents were actually pretty good except for the searching the bags without asking. Thats just wrong and an invasion of privacy and most people would be upset if someone did that. If the parents expect the kids to respect them then they should be respectful to the kids and not search their personal belongings without telling them first.

tbh the guy "teen" shouldn't have gone on the show. he is 18, he is allowed to do what he wanted. the "parents" are not allowed to take his stuff. he paid for it, and they aren't his legal guardians. he had every right to be pissed at them. its also insane to me that they make their kids say yes sir and yes ma'am. they are the parents, it doesn't need to be this extremely strict
