I love watching Caity surf, so much style and flow. The right person absolutely won the title and I couldn't be happier it was Marks she beat. Watching Marks get high scores for repeating the same damn turn all year is so tiresome.

As a dude, I enjoyed this much more than the men's. I wanted Caity to win so much the whole year. She stokes me. She reminds me of my grom hood in the late 80s early 90s doing new stuff. She looked so much like Tom Curren on finals day. Beautiful stylish powerful fast surfing.

Nice to see the points leaders with their yellow jerseys get their titles this year. It was heart breaking to see Carissa get cheated out of her titles 2 years in a row at this less than world class wave. Probably a big part of why she stepped back from the CT. Nice that they're moving the finals to a top break for next year's finals.

Someone help me understand heat #1 scoring. At the end, Caroline ripped 10 awesome backhands. As far as I could see, there was only one maneuver, and then she was awarded the highest score of the heat.

When I first saw this young lady surf in a video earlier this year she bounced off the screen and got immediately got my attention,as I watched her I said to myself this is the best female surfing I had ever seen and said to myself she will be a world campion whether she stays competitive or not.That video of her surfing those Barrels at that first ever surfed location was like no female has ever surfed like that in barrels like that.She could practically surf in the mens comp,but like surfers like JJ Florence and others they need big solid waves to bring out there full talent and ability like seen in those barrels she surfed otherwise acrobatic surfers can win.Acrobatic surfing all though amazing impressive does not rate to me compared to full throttle top to bottom massive craving and style surfing.

@3:50 - smooth surfing - she's vibing with it. others need to take notice. she's channeling curren. @6:50 - now this one - she didn't vibe with. too snappy. always better to "push into" the turns rather than snap them. Though I just see it as what the competition itself brings out. Should judge more on the vibe - the ride as a whole rather than number of maneuvers. It would be better viewing then. Let them draw whatever line they want. It seems that "vibing with the wave" and # maneuvers are at odds. It's too technical and professional these days. We're out in the damn ocean for crap's sake. Even if judging is harder due to being less structured, it's still makes better viewing - better for field as a whole - to let the contestants do as they please on the wave - even if that means no "maneuvers" - did they still ride it sick in a way that most couldn't? Curren, Craig, Machado and some others can have some real sick rides without much maneuvers. @8:19 - solid snap off the top after this bottom turn, but MISSED opp for lip climb. @11:19 - strong elements of curren - too much snappy in some portions. flow and snappy are at odds. tldr; One thing that I don't see in surfing anymore is deep bottom turns - like backside then under the lip CARVE. Need more foam perhaps.

Being a father of a daughter I couldn’t imagine her father’s emotions! I’m a big dude, pretty tough guy and I was in tears! My wife walked in on me after Simmers won and asked me if I was crying…. I said yes, it’s a father/daughter thing!
