I think I’d agree w/ Largo that the pack you’re use to that’s much lighter would be better than a non supportive loaner. But, I’ve never done a long hike or slack packed.

TIP: Good Bear etiquette does not just include care with food...it also includes not using "sweet or floral" smelling Deodorants too.

Yes that pack is you! Love it. And Captain, I agree- an emptied backpack always seems lighter than the same stuff in a day pack! I love how you guys fit Woods Hole into your day. So fun! Definitely a well oiled machine with that 4 AM wake up call.

I hear there are lacing tricks to stop your feet from moving inside your shoes to help with blisters..
@nancywittendorfer5982
@nancywittendorfer5982 2 ай бұрын
Most lacing tricks are for your shoes to stay tied. Injinji socks are the best for preventing blisters. Perhaps Captain's shoes are not big enough because if his toes keep hitting on the downhill that's why.

Check out Engo! You will thank me😊 best thing Harv and I did for blister care. I think it would work in your shoes and your poles. It was developed for people with prosthetics. It goes on the shoe not the skin

I have been waiting for you to mention Pearisburg, VA So I have only done 100 miles total on the A.T. In very small sections. Unless a more embarrassing story happens along the way, my little hikes during my little hikes (so little compared to yours), Pearisburg will be the one that I will tell. I drove 4 hours from my home in the Eastern Panhandle down to Pearisburg and met some friends to do a two day, overnight hike. We were two hours in when I realized we were going the wrong way. Man, were my friend frustrated with me because I was the one that planned it. Ooops

It is not ideal and I have only done it 3x. It is a far cry from 90% of the people who sleep with their food in shelters each night.

My next door neighbor was murdered last year by another neighbor that he sometimes did landscaping jobs with. Originally, when the detectives came to talk to me, all I knew was that they were coming, and wanted to search his side of the house. I assumed that he was being investigated, because he was pretty shady…. I had police knocking on my door, looking for him, before. It was the next day that I found out that he had been shot, and dumped on the side of the road, just over the county line. That was terrifying! Especially since his brother, whom lived with him, was way too happy about inheriting a weed whacker from him! Not long before this happened, his brother was telling my father, whom owns the house, about how he had removed the water meter, replacing it with a pipe, to get free water after they shut his water of… So, of course I couldn’t help but be scared that I had a cold blooded killer living next to me! Thankfully, the actual killer turned himself in! He lived within a few hundred yards of my house! I still get the creeps thinking about it! What makes this story worse, after blowing my next door neighbor away, he actually picked up his girlfriend, and their CHILD, and drove with them south to dump the murder weapon in the Potomac River, only to drive North to dump his body only a few miles away(Like he actually wanted to get caught, or something….), but with his own child in the truck with the neighbor’s body! I feel so horrible for that child! And the girlfriend’s hair, which was dyed multiple colors, was actually found on his body, so she also went to prison for helping her boyfriend dispose of the body.
