Okay. That’s impressive getting Italy on a 10m repeater. FM is a tough road to go. I’ve never had a 10m FM QSO. (I confess that when 10m is open, I’m chasing SSB DX. About 1/3 of the 77 different DX entities I’ve worked as a mobile station came from 10m.)

I’m gonna study for my technician license this winter. Are the Stryker radios good 10 meter radios? If so, are they worth the money? I know they’re easy to modify for 11 meters.

It's the man who slated the potential of the UV-K5 and he uses a crappy balcony antenna. I can make contact from USA to Europe on a coat-hanger also. Then you finish to say a technician level operator should use an 11M radio converted to 10M after saying how many problems the UV K5 would cause via superfluous emissions! lol
@HamRadioConceptsАй бұрын
Ahahaha, you're a new operator, I have been making contacts with bicycle rims and coat hangers to Europe 20 years ago. You definitely get hard as a rock watching my videos apparently. And once again, the UVK5 IS GARBAGE on ANYTHING but VHF AND UHF. You are one of those broke newbies who are searching for something on KZbin but just hasn't found it yet.

@@HamRadioConcepts Your missing the point. You say hams should convert CB radios to operate on 10M but we all know that CB radios have a reputation for having bad filtering. I've been on radio since the mid 80's thanks.
@HamRadioConceptsАй бұрын
@ been on CB since 1987 as well. CBS have much more filtering than a UVK5. I put this thing on my IFRcom120b service monitor and transmitting on 18 MHZ showed 100 MHz of spurious emissions, at less then 100mw output total. At 900mhz, practically no power output. The receiver sensitivity on HF frequencies was OVER 1.0uV for 12dB sinad. Transmitting on 10meters on this handheld showed spurious emissions all over VHF and UHF bands. Lastly, you are missing the point of what I am trying to say. I’m at OVER 100 emails and comments on this video STATING ICOM AND YAESU SHOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS that “the UVK5 is far superior to the Icom 9700 and 7300 for only $26”. I didn’t say that. THEY did. The idiotic disrespectful losers watching KZbin disrespecting Japanese companies with top level engineers developing some of the most sophisticated radio equipment in the world
