I find the term "pregnant people" to be extremely offensive ! Since I am a male wolf born into a female body, I feel that the term "pregnant organisms" to be much more appropriate !!

what do you mean by "male wolf"?

I find the term "organism" highly offensive as I identify as a silica-based lifeform and find your anti-inorganic stance problematic. At least all the attack helicopters can still share my pain.

Apart from attacking UN peacekeeping and humanitarian intervention. He needs to watch out, particularly attacking intervention in Yugoslavia: he knows full well why his Revolutionary Communist Party went bankrupt - they told despicable lies about it.

The change of political language is part of a larger change throughout our society, from the insidious rise of postmodernism. It is a mistake to continue perceiving the Great Divide as one of the Right pitted against the Left. Instead, within the last 30 years, postmodernism has taken root within various key institutions in the west, which is now pitting the Individualists against the Collectivists. The Individualist camp holds to the following values and perspective: 1. Individual identity and autonomy 2. experience and reason 3. fundamental human interaction as harmonious and tending toward mutually-beneficial relationships 4. calls for individualism in values, markets, and politics The Collectivist camp holds to the following: 1. various race, gender, and class group-isms 2. postmodernists posit reason as an agent of oppression, to be countered by means of linguistic social subjectivism 3. fundamental human interaction is grounded in conflict and oppression 4. postmodernism calls for communalism, solidarity, and egalitarian restraints The Collectivists make use of political correctness, victimization, social and cultural war, and identity politics.The Individualist vision is grounded in Modern philosophy, while the Collectivist vision is grounded in the rather recent Postmodern philosophy. The second speaker (female) is so observant that she cannot see that the Class System is getting bigger and more entrenched! She cannot even see how the Political Class, the Educational Class, The Managerial Class, The Church of England Class, the Judiciary, the Media Class, are reserving power and wealth to themselves; at the expense of lesser mortals. This is how 'progressive' she is!
@Mark_Dyer1
@Mark_Dyer1 6 жыл бұрын
The same speaker also, clearly, believes 'fascism' to be a property of the 'right'. This is an error. Fascism is a behaviour, characterised by violence and intolerance; and - at the moment - it is the preserve of the 'extreme left'.

Why do some people resort to mere insults, rather than proper argument? For example, the man who resorts to describing Brendan as "ignorant", rather than explaining why!

There is a role that language plays in how we express ourselves, and not having the words to do so changing the meaning of words and/or inventing new words to do so does make a difference. It is not a very obvious thing. Language itself does have that power to create or to kill ideas. This can happen organically and naturally, but it can also be imposed on us.
@jakesdoor22
@jakesdoor22 6 жыл бұрын
Wait what...how can ideas even exist in a collective reality without language (in whatever form it takes -- oral, written...etc.)? How are ideas organically created and killed without a language foundation and exchange between two minds? Arguably, yes, a person could create and kill their own ideas in solitude...but it is the presence or total absence of a language exchange that gave that person the ability to create/kill their own "ideas" in the first place (which every aspect of knowledge and communication is structured by). If a person in solitude doesn't record their ideas (language) in whatever way, wouldn't they inherently die with his death?

The second speakers repeated use of the term " people who were left behind " really grated on my nerves . I found it very dehumanizing and patronizing . It left me with the feeling I knew more about her than the people she was referring to . In short , she seems to be a member of the exact " liberal elite " she so objected to . edit : I'm not even British , so this isn't personal .

All of this nonsense , all of it is right on schedule. Women left the home 50 60 years ago and it took the just about 50 60 years for them to get get high enough situated in society to make the world a great big giant nanny state. The "smothering mother' has taken the world of logic and stoicism and made a complete fucking mess of everything.

About the kid who spoke.... Identity politics is OK but we need to use the term 'pregnant people' and not expectant mothers or pregnant women? How about using your inclusion and applying it to identity politics... thereby everyone is a 'human being' and not black or a woman or a muslim or anything else????

the baby kid just doesn't get it. Freedom of speech is an INDIVIDUAL RIGHT. The majority, in the USA at least, doesn't get to take away a RIGHT from an individual. And its the governments job to PROTECT INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS. So, if it is the custom of groups of individuals to invite another individual to come and speak, on campus for example, then NO ONE has the right to prevent that person from coming and speaking. PERIOD. You can invite your own speaker, who may completely hold opposite views of the 1st speaker the next day, or the next week, and NO ONE has the right to prevent THAT PERSON from speaking. You can express your opposition to speakers by standing outside of the venue, OFF TO THE SIDE SO AS NOT TO INTERFERE WITH ANYONE ATTENDING THE EVENT, and hold signs showcasing your views. And the next group can do that same thing to YOUR speaker. Preventing someone from attending a speakers event, or disrupting someones event by standing up and shouting and not staying quiet is the crime of DISORDERLY CONDUCT and those people should be arrested and put in jail.Of course that is not perfect and can not be perfectly enforced so audience members might boo here and there, but an organized effort to interfere with the audiences right to hear the speaker or even individuals doing so by going up by the stage and shouting, etc is a clear breach of the peace and therefore disorderly conduct. College campuses have become Orwellian Totalitarian Feminist Propaganda Indoctrination Camps and when people go against that they are ATTACKED. Divergent views MUST BE ALLOWED in public places. If you don't want to hear certain views YOU LEAVE and go hide inside your house. THAT'S YOUR SAFE SPACE.

He has made a couple of things clear. He's old enough to have noticed the strange time warp dimension shuffle where the foreseen collapse of the present monetary system drove the capitalists to capitalise on more oil and arms. For defence purposes, To go to war to steal more oil and opium, lithium, uranium, to keep the economy and growth on a par with our needs but this time... Do it by showing your own sense of loyalty to us the ones who enabled you access into such a position of responsibility ! The honour to serve under the banner with other masters apprentices and learn the walk. Not be bought out by the corporate elite like the other sheep walking around parliament feeling smug about the prospects of a position in Brussels rather than being a proud contributor towards the cultural struggle in her own country. I can't believe that its come this far ? 53 and i enjoyed listening to Sandinista and watching billy brag step out on the main stage at glastonbury and sing new england & human kindness and i thought i could trust everyone ! More or less ? I believed..left England after meeting a fair maiden learning the lingo savi. Turned around and fell in love.🤔😉 30 years later i take five and look towards my homeland and chuckled at the so called predicament, which is as popular as Voldemort at the mo. I'll say no more except. They did'nt have a concept !?! Oh they had one. They've all put their money where their mouth was and committed themselves, as the good pro's that they are, toward claiming the trophy for the boss. Who just happens to be a right wing conservative, but he's sponsering the charity match and going on a march against fracking, he like's painting outdoors. No not paintball.. Oil on canvas..😒😑 The media is off with the fairy's and after 30 years i listened to the 'editor'?, Of The Sun newspaper which i had'nt realised at the time ! And i'm thinking Frikkin mandela effect or what ? The lefty, almost common, rag of the 80's has dropped the banter for direct truth and common sense ? I noticed parliament which, as they showed it televised in the ninety's was, although full of only brown or blue suits, overcast with an air of restrained order amongst the then stalemate yet still traditionally run house. I suppose europe said..look lads.! Its going to be big ! And you all said yeh but, no but, well..? But.?.oh? Alright..? And now i feel the need to come and sort you out ! In a positive way rodney😑 big you up Not let you down... now i'm just acting the clown.

"Populist" as the most demonized word? Very interesting. I wouldn't have thought that, even of Britain. Marriage is a stand-alone issue, not a stand-in the way people treat it.

Wow such hypocrisy - so a disability pension isn't about not being phyisically or mentally unable to work - it's just another word for unemployment benefits ? By adopting this position you have moved into an Orwellian construct yourself ! It is in fact tyrannical to insist that someone unable to work should be working.

Do not know if I'm going to laugh or cry , Brendan O'Neill critizing new words, ending up making up new words and saying we need new words. Would be better if he stick to Troskij, as he started his end speech. We already have names in the marxist tradition for social categories and political struggle. Wy is he afraid to use them?

William Kelly Wrong! In my country, The United States, the welfare state has destroyed the nuclear family. 73% of African American families have no fathers. 40% white families, and 50% of Hispanic households. The state has become the father. No way, man!

Capitalism is an organic system which adapts to whatever situation exists at the time,a DOMESTIC social set-up can sit comfortably within it and may be argued is a strong part of it(self-improvement,law and order,discipline etc) capitalism has been around from day one,socialISM eventually leads to communism which is totally man-made and unnatural and that's why it NEVER succeeds except in the minds of the ignorant idealists,it's a one size fits all failure

I mostly agree with Brendan but on progressive, I find he the pot calling the kettle because he believes and promotes abortion as progressive. How is the killing of defenceless human beings regarded as progressive? Brendan, on this issue, is as guilty of doublespeak as anyone he criticises.
