God damn it, I've been following this series from the start and it took me until today to see the word play in bills name... congrats, that completely flew over my head.

A major tip while scanning in a WH is make sure you get on a safe and then start moving under MWD in a random direction (not aligned to anything) it makes it a whole lot harder for hunters to land on you. Really enjoying the series! Keep up the good work o7

Oh and (sorry) at 20:07 you missed a rule of six - the core was adjacent to the firewall, with the kernel rot and DoT attacks on hand you could have got that one 😢 I found out recently the explosion colour when the can blows up tells you if it had better quality stuff (blue) or just standard (orange). How cool is that …

It's probably worth mentioning, you'd be better off scanning everything in that system, and then recalling your probes. If other people see them on dscan, they'll come looking for you.

Or scan - find something valuable- pull probes - run it - release probes and warp back to safe, scan down something else. Don’t leave probes out while you are hacking cans, people will realise exactly what you are up to - never a good thing in Eve…

I know of one specific situation where cherry-picking hurts yourself: when you're on a long roam through a hostile but quiet nullsec region. I still use a cargo scanner, I just pop the worthless cans by failing twice instead of leaving them. Apart from that, and especially on WH day trips, you should definitely pick those cherries!

Loving this series and I never realized how much of the game connects together so well. Like ratting and mining led you to exploration which led you into wormholes and now a data since which opens up filaments to null sec or abyssal space.

And you can get Tech 2 rig drops in data sites. In the event that shiny Cynabal Trusty Thomas needs some extra bling.

It makes perfect sense for you to use a cargo scanner

Please mention rule of 6 and rule of 8. It helps tremendously when hacking with low skills. Also it suck really bad we can't see your mouse "pointer" here as at some times it's really hard to guess about what element on the hacking "board" you are talking about.

I know what the rule of six is, and I think you can see me intermittently remembering to use it in this video, but I have never heard of the rule of 8. I guess I'm off to google it now!

i get both arguments as a guy with a scanner alt. My stance is ill pop every can in known space... that way sites will respawn faster for the next guy. Jspace.... ive lost enough scanners to know, i aint hanging around.

I dont think that molekular condensers can spawn in wormhole data sites, at least ive never found them there. I know they spawn in high-sec data sites and I am not sure about low sec since I've never lived there. Other than that I wanted to say that I'm enjoying the series very much.

You won’t find molecular condensers in nullsec either - highsec, and possibly low are the only sources. Although loads of valuable stuff in null /wormhole space ofc, not sure how useful to you as you can’t sell it. Although a k space sleeper site would get you blue loot which you could sell to NPC buy orders I guess

As someone whose main source of income over many, many years has been exploration, while it is annoying to be on the receiving end of a bunch of cherry picked sites myself during a run, this notion that any player should feel even the slightest moral obligation in EVE to risk their ship, pod and potentially an entire evening's worth of work in their cargo just for the sake of sparing someone else a can or two of carbon is patently ridiculous. Would it be lovely if every site I or any other explorer came across was fresh and full with tens of millions in loot or more? Absolutely. Would it be fantastic if every site was on its respawn rotation within minutes of its spawn, thus populating New Eden with even more in exploration loot for the taking? Of course it would be. Have I myself shamelessly cherry picked sites in a system because I've just seen that interceptor from 3 systems back just pop into local, and I'm pretty sure they'll be hunting me if I hack more than 1-2 cans in the site I've just warped into before I GTFO? You bet your ass I have. And I bet you'll find that damn near every explorer who judges and condemns others for cherry picking will do the exact same thing when its their blinged out Astero and Mid-grade Virtue pod that they've got to suddenly put up or shut up. When you're out in low/null for exploration, your own hide comes before the next guy's convenience.

Absolutely - this I scan every can in the site, grade them 1-3 (1 is must open, 2 is alright, 3 is not worth it) … if you fleet with yourself you can use target priority marks on each can, and if you have to cloak / Uncloak you don’t lose track of which ones are worthless. Open all the 1s, 2s if no one is around, GTFO. And a 3 can for me is usually < 1.5 to 2 mill value. I’m in null, it takes a minute or two to hack a can, it’s not worth the risk when my cheetah cost 35 mill - move on.

I'm absolutely a cherry picker and will always be. I'm risking my ship every time I poke my nose into wormholes, I'll not waste time hacking worthless stations. They don't care if it's just a probe or a heron scanning, they blap you regardless. That's EVE, deal with it (generic "you", not you Bill :D)...

Sorry, the high tech data chip is only useful to make Zeugma analysers (you’ll need 100) and the lesser combined analyser (forget name, needs 50) There’s a different class of data chip (not high tech) that comes from PI - that one is used (among other uses) to make nanite paste. For which you also need nanites and gel matrix bio paste (more PI, not impossible for you but a pain). Really you probably want a medium ancillary armor repairer BPC to make it worthwhile.
