@@Jartopia to be honest I'm not a professional but I've seen a video that talked about them, and they said that Stentors switch to this kind of oval shape when they're trying to find a place to fixate themselves. I learned this from a KZbin channel called Journey Into The Microcosmos. I hope it's useful! :D

My guess is that it's a planarian based on the body movement, possibly Dalyellia viridis, a species known to harbor algae inside itself, if you find any with black spheres inside that would confirm eggs and support my guess.
@Jartopia3 жыл бұрын
I didn't know of that species! Thank you for bringing it to my attention. It's definitely a plausible possibility. The only other suggestion I've had is it's a Stentor, but I didn't think it's movement matched footage I've seen online.

Glad to shout out! I've been a huge fan of planarians ever since I heard about them 20 years ago, their mouths aren't near their head, which is just wild! No idea if I'm right because I'm unsure if they live where you sampled. They frequent North America freshwaters, but there isn't a lot of internet info about them.

You probably have it figured out by now, but the larger leech is the invasive (to the US) Asian leech Barbronia weberi. They make cocoons on the glass where they lay their eggs in which hatch within a month. Interesting stuff. The green things could be Stentors.

I think all of the largest insects and crustaceans were eaten by the Dendrocoelum lacteum. They're very voracious predators of aquatic invertebrates and I suspect they've hunted a majority of the larger things in the ecosphere. There isn't any daphnia anymore and the remaining hoglouse and amphipods are mainly all juveniles.

Go to pond or other slow-moving body of water with a good big jar. Harvest a couple species of plants, try for ones that will grow in different areas of the biosphere (i.e. duckweed or any other floater and one growing in the substrate). I recommend collecting a tuft or two of algae, as that's where a lot of the really cute tiny crustaceans hang out, but even if you don't actively collect algae you'll probably end up with algal growth in your biosphere. Collect a bunch of the substrate/soil, 1/4 of the jar should be good. That's where all the animals, bacteria, etc are so it's really important. If you see snails or something you can grab them, but other than that the fauna you get is mostly a matter of luck.
