I am a Star Wars fan for decades, and I have to say Nemik became very fast one of my favourite characters in the franchise. He embodies so well the young idealistic rebel that people like Sophie Scholl had been during the time of Nazi Germany, or all the french resistance fighters.

When Vel offered Cassian the manifesto it also made me cry the way he says, "I don't want it." It's as if he's afraid of accepting it because he knows it could inspire him. He's like a man afraid to have hope.

Yeah, you could see Skeen taking advantage of all situations to whittle down the crew to make it easier for him to take the credits. He doesn't cover Taramyn, and uses Nemik's situation to get Andor to stop off earlier than expected where no one would be guarding the freighter. With that only two people who separating him from the credits. Vel is a true believer in the cause, so there'd be no way she's go for it, but he thought Andor would because he already knew that he was doing the mission for credits. He just didn't know that Andor was also doing it because Luthen saved him, and there was no way he was stabbing him in the back.

Not only did the scumbag fail to provide ANY real cover fire, but Nemik, the "kid" NAILED the cover fire when he was tasked. Really great difference between the characters.
@williamcorbett53423 ай бұрын
I’m a little less certain on that one. Obviously, skeen went bad at the end but we get the POV of the guard who shot Taramyn, and it really looks like skeen didn’t have an angle of visibility on him.

I was really nervous watching this episode. I think it's the first time in years that I've actually feel tense watching SW. The Mandolorian is still my favorite SW show, but the dialogue and acting in Andor are on ANOTHER LEVEL.

This was a great episode. You're right, Cassian does have a moral compass that is tilting toward the rebellion. I'm glad they didn't make the journey of his character arch so simple. Cassian is not sold on fighting for something more than himself...yet. But Nemik more than anyone has changed him. He has planted a seed, and his manifesto will be what alters his course and completes the arch that brings us the Cassian we know from Rogue One. Just think it is young Nemik that changes galactic history, leads to the destruction of the (I can't say--no spoiler), and the overthrow of the empire. Just beautiful. Sorry Emme, I realize you're watching in chronological order. Remember this moment as you get to the end of the original trilogy.

This episode is absolutely amazing I already rewatched it 5 times. The visual effects are so beautiful as well and it was also too emotional. Nemiks death was too sad. He was the one with the least chance of survival yet when the ship left with him on board I thought he made it... but I was not prepared for what happens next. And the fact that they gave us hope with bringing him to the doctor and he died anyway is even deeper :( This is one of the best Star Wars I have ever seen I just cant get this episode out of my head. Everything in Andor has a meaning no kidding. Anyway just 15 hours till episode 7 im hyped

Thanks, Emme! 🌠 Yes, 'Arvel Skeen' made up the story about a brother with the orchard so he could infiltrate the cell. He really was just an opportunist. This show is beyond thrilling, huh?! The death of 'Karis Nemik' will weigh hard in the mind of 'Cassian Andor'. His idealism embodied what is becoming the Rebel Alliance. Hopefully his manifesto will be inspirational for many others beyond 'Andor'. He certainly won't want to be seen as another 'Skeen'. #Emme #StarWars #Andor #DisneyPlus

This episode cemented the show as by far the best live action star wars show, like it's not even close. The biggest ocmplaint I've seen is that the pacing is slow, but it isn't, this episode wouldn't have been nearly as good as it was without the buildup provided by earlier episodes. I'm also 99% certain that Vel's reluctance at the start of the mission is simply because she knows if they succeed she won't see Cinta again for a long time, possibly ever.
@mathies35982 жыл бұрын
I mean the pacing is definitely slow but that's a good thing imo
@emme2 жыл бұрын
i think the pacing is slower compared to other star wars stuff i've seen so far but to me that makes it more "real" similar to shows i would typically see on like HBO! i've been really enjoying it and appreciate the pacing. taking time to introduce characters such as nemik make the loss much more meaningful
@ISavant2 жыл бұрын
@@emme i mean in terms of star wars then yeah I guess I'd call it slow, but as a political/espionage show I don't think it's all that slow. the wire, for example (as an hbo show) has episodes where the main characters are sitting around listening to audio surveillance and almost nothing happens, but *nobody* who has seen it would call The Wire a bad show, in fact it's one of the best ever.

stay hydrated, stretch your legs, and don't get arrested...great life advice! This show just keeps doing things I've never seen in Star Wars before. That imperial engineer that Vel killed...that dude looked like a good guy in that situation. his first thought was to protect the innocent kid that our "heroes" were taking hostage. And the bad guys who end up ruining everything weren't the typical bumbling fools they often look like in other Star Wars stories. The comms guy was paying attention and doing his job and it led to him catching what was going on. Not to mention the visuals. This show has looked unique from the start, but the Eye and the views of pilots getting into their TIE fighters were so well done. And I just really like the way Andor didn't hesitate to kill Skeen. The show isn't perfect, there are little things that it may be could explain or show better, but they are very minor. The show is just such a surprise that I can look past it.
@CaptainAmercia2 жыл бұрын
14:02 Really cool that this is really you're first real introduction to Tie Fighters from the scale to the sounds etc. They were introduced in A New Hope so you of course show them in that but Andor really showcases them from the point of view of a normal person rather than a Jedi. Games like Tie Fighter along with Battlefront and Star Wars Squadrons do a great job at showcasing the Tie Fighter but from live action I'd 100% say that there the best in Andor at least the normal Tie Fighter. 17:32 Wouldn't of made much of a difference but Tie Fighters don't have shields which is why this was just suicidal. Even with shields this run would be mad but Tie Fighters are daredevils afterall.

I'm really enjoying this series and its suspenseful but also thought-provoking writing, and how it shows us that despite the fact that the Empire is an awful regime, that there are good and bad people on both sides - Skeev is a rebel who is only out for himself, there's that brave Imperial officer taken hostage whose last words are "let the boy go", and we have Vel demonstrating that she is a rebel who is willing to take innocent people hostage and may be an extremist willing to murder an innocent mother and child to get results.

I can't help but wonder if Luthen picking Cassian and telling Vel that Cassian is there as a redundancy to make sure nothing goes wrong, if he knew that maybe *someone* on the team would have considered doing what Skeen ended up doing, and he wanted Cassian to be there trusting in his righteousness to put a stop to any of that

You mean why Cassian killed him? If he'd refused the deal and tried to tell Vel, Skeen would probably have killed him. If he'd agreed to it, he couldn't trust Skeen not to kill him later - plus he didn't want to betray Luthen.
@abbymcface Жыл бұрын
@@robh7680 No, that part is obvious. I meant it's not clear what's going on with Skeen, who plainly isn't as heartless and amoral as he's claiming to be right then. A lot of the show is in its silences, but this is one that doesn't actually have enough clues for the audience to put together.
