Excellent video!!! Congratulations!!! One of the great mysteries of the guitar world on KZbin is the tiny number of video reviews about the fantastic equipment that is the g3. For example, videos talking about the power of midi control. Even more basic information is missing, such as, just to mention one, how do you configure these screens with the names of the presets???

I have the Eventide H90. You may only get 2 "blocks," but they are the best sounding 2 blocks in my signal chain. You can place each algorithm seperately anywhere in your signal path. It's like having 10 different pedals on your board. I haven't really even scratched the surface of what it's capable of.

Those “blocks” each contain more DSP than a whole helix .. there’s literally no reason for any Strymon product with H90 as well.

How do you have your H90 wired into your board? After DD500? Split? Were there any particular reasons you decided to go that route? I'm trying to figure out where to put it in my chain.
@worshiptutorials
@worshiptutorials Ай бұрын
Brian here - I have it after my drives and in front of my DD500. I'm using it mostly for mods and pitch/synth effects. Sometimes reverb, and sometimes drive or fuzz. Where you put it will depend on what you plan to use it for. If it's mostly for delays and reverbs for you, toward the end of the chain would make the most sense. If you're utilizing more like me, in front of your delays/verbs is probably best. You can also utilize the effects loops in H90 with your other pedals if you want more flexibility.
@dansomerville
@dansomerville Ай бұрын
You can use dual mode and put each side of it before an after your drives. Then if you want pitch shift you can use it before distortion and if you want mods/delays/verbs you can use them after. You can still use both effects on either side. I.e I use delay and verb more than pitch stuff so lots of time I have side 1 with nothing in it and then both algorithms running on side 2
@worshiptutorials
@worshiptutorials Ай бұрын
You're talking about using the effects loop inserts in the H90? I'm using a GigRig G3, and all the pedals on the board are in loops in the G3, so I can re-arrange them if I'd like to. But the inserts make H90 really flexible.
@cdoug-la
@cdoug-la Ай бұрын
@@dansomerville If I'm understanding correctly, the inputs and outputs could be split and used independently, depending on how you have the program configured in Dual mode (instead of using the additional routing options as inserts)?
@dansomerville
@dansomerville Ай бұрын
@@cdoug-la dual mode and insert mode both have advantages and disadvantages. I’ve run both extensively but settled on dual mode. There’s pretty good examples of each in the manual.

Are the presets in dual more or insert mode? They aren’t transferable
@worshiptutorials
@worshiptutorials Ай бұрын
Are you referring to the 'routing mode'? I'm not sure I understand what you're asking about.
@dansomerville
@dansomerville Ай бұрын
@@worshiptutorials yes. There is two modes of operation on the H90. Dual mode which splits it into two separate sides and Insert mode which gives you moveable effects loops. There are advantages and disadvantages to each. However, programs between them are not transferable. So if you’ve made all of these in dual mode anyone running their H90 in insert mode will not be able to use the presets and vice versa. I have both of mine in dual mode. I’m interested in buying the pack but not if they can’t work for me.
@dansomerville
@dansomerville Ай бұрын
@@worshiptutorials there is a way to redo the programs for each type. you have to change the pedal into the opposite mode and then add the specific presets to make the same program in the other mode. There are explanations for this on the Eventide forum.
@worshiptutorials
@worshiptutorials Ай бұрын
I see what you're referring to now. These are set up in Insert routing mode. Dual routing seems to be used mostly to process two different signals/instruments separately (at least according to the manual).
@dansomerville
@dansomerville Ай бұрын
@@worshiptutorials ahhh. Kinda but not really. Let’s say you have this chain. H90 side A > drive pedals > H90 side B If you didn’t want an algorithm in side A (not using pitch shift, compressor, etc) you can put both algorithms in side B and side A can be relay bypassed. No need for any extra AD/DA conversions. Plus any factory preset you pull up will always have your drives active. Doing the same chain in insert mode would be H90 > drives in insert > H90 Because the insert always have to be active you gain an extra 4ms latency. Plus any factory preset you pull up won’t have the insert active so you have to put it in, save the program, and always have the insert active. If you just run your drives in front of the H90 then you have no way of putting an H90 effect in front of them. If you use both inserts the latency of the H90 can get pretty high. Had it since day 1 and it took me a lonnnnggg time to wrap my head around it all and try all sorts of setups. Either way anyone using dual mode won’t be able to load your presets
