Listen carefully, Goku knows Gohans true power, Goku ask Gohan could you keep track of our fight Gohan, which Gohan replied yeah but thats only because you were holding back, which Goku replied with idk about cell but I was going all out. Which means in Gohan thought his dad and cell were moving slow and holding back, while in reality, their movement was slow to him, implying Gohan had already surpassed his dad in power and speed. Goku gave cell that senzu bean because he knew how strong Gohan was as a super sayian not because of his potential although it would be stupid of me, to say Goku didn't know of that massive potential. If you haven't noticed Gohan's power is tied to his emotional state, and having the fate of the world on your shoulder's doesn't help one's mental state, which Gohan relies on for power. It was Gohan's lack of confidence and bad mental state that put Gohan in danger. And for you people saying, "well Gohan isn't a fighter therefore he should be put in those types of situations". Gohan is a fighter and the only one who knew that was Goku which is why Gohan won at the end of the day, Goku was the only one who believe in Gohan, when not even "PICCOLO" Gohan's so called mentor and parent figure didn't believe in him. P.S. it didn't help Gohan out, when non of his friends believed in him

arrogance is no excuse. he had no way of actually knowing gohan would survive long enough to awaken his power. gohan is not a fighter. Goku realizes hes wrong midway through the fight after piccolo yells at him. also its not a matter of having faith in your son to pointlessly make your enemy stronger. its just arrogance and stupidity. gohan can still save the world from a weakened Cell. there is many ways they could have dealt with cell better anyways. they didnt need to make Gohan fight him alone.

The sad part about Gohan is that he WAS gonna be the new lead of the series! After the Cell Saga, Gohan was supposed to take Goku's place as the main protagonist. But the fans decided that he doesn't deserve the spotlight. They preferred Goku to him so the writer(s) brought goku back as the star in the Buu saga. They reduced Gohan to a geeky fashion-challenged loser with dorky glasses and the most ridiculous poses ever. It's a pity. All that potential thrown into the trash. Potential from when Gohan was relevant!

The worst decision was not changing the main character from Goku to Gohan. There I said it! Dragon Ball Z would have had the best main character change out of any show if Gohan became the lead after defeated cell. They had the perfect setup! Old character transitioned out heroically- Check. New character familiar with the audience - check. More powerful than teachers - check. Hard lesson learned - check. Different than his predecessors - check. New technique that evolves an old technique from his predecessors teased - Double check actually. The one handed Kamehameha and a fully body Kamehameha. I mean, can you imagine dual one handed Kamehamehas?I can picture him crossing his arms over his chest, saying Kamehameha and then blasting that shit in opposite directions. WAISTED POTENTIAL! I wish Toriyama wasn't unhappy with Gohan's character and didn't dislike Vegeta

I'm sick and tired of people saying that Goku giving Cell a senzu bean and him creating the T.O.P we're stupid. If Cell was to face Gohan when exhausted then he would have gotten desperate and Gohan would've failed to defeat him. By cell being at max power it allowed him to remain cocky and be able to push Gohan to the edge. Zeno was already planning on destroying the universes with a low mortal count so Goku actually gave everyone a chance at survival. Before you bring out Goku showing off against Bergamo let me just say this. Imagine the Rulers of All going through the trouble for creating the tournament just to cancel it in the end. I don't really see them being too happy about that. It also happened for the sake of plot.

To be fair in the Top arc, Zen-Oh was going to destroy all the universes just much much much later, at least Goku gave all the other universes a chance to save their own universes (but it was still stupid; by that time it wouldn't be your problem because you'd all be dead)

Frieza is a glutton for punishment. Even after cut in half and suffered a painful and crushing defeat from Goku leaving him in pieces. After being brought back he came to earth for more, only be cut in pieces, another painful and crushing defeat. Frieda was again resurrected only come back to earth for more, yet again, and was destroyed and left in pieces are an explosive kamehameha. Frieza was again brought again brought back, but stilllllllll, he came back for more with Broly, only to be suffer one of the most punishing beatings and punches in the history of the anime. He managed to survive and escaped, but instead of leaving it in the past, he claimed he would come back for. Come on, this is a fight that you can't win Friza just leave it in the past and move on. Does Frieza not accept defeat because his massive ego and cant take being beat.
