THIS IS THE TRUCK THAT I REFUSED TO WORK ON. IT BELONGS TO A FRIEND OF MINE. HE TOOK IT TO A GUY TO HAVE THE FRAME EXTENDED, AN OUTER "DOUBLE" FRAME ADDED, A LIFT AXLE ADDED AND A 4000 GALLON TANKER INSTALLED. IT TOOK 7 MONTHS TO COMPLETE AND WHAT THE OWNER CALLS A "MOUNTAIN OF MONEY". IT WAS BROUGHT TO ME TO DO THE WIRING AND LIGHTS. NO IDEA WHY THE OTHER GUY COULDNT RUN THE LIGHTS.....UNTIL I SAW THE TRUCK. I NEED TO REMOVE THE LIFT AXLE FROM THIS TRUCK TO MODIFY AND USE ON THE TRUCK I AM BUILDING.

This is 100% regular performance of multiple trades. It cannot be overstated that MOST people will knowingly do the wrong thing just for a paycheck. Working as a wrench spinner, this type of work was a normal thing to see roll into the shop. Working in construction, most people would be scared to see what is behind their walls. Working in the food and service industry, LOL. Most people, fair to say 90% will perform this type of work, if not worse.

J C Smith Just wondering if there is a possible way to educate the person that did this terrible work on that truck?? If that fellow was willing to learn how to do a much better job and do it the right way it should be done? My thinking is Education is the key. Not suing him, and or reporting him to the DOT. He needs taught how to do this kinda work right. I also know some are not teachable. Thanks for showing the difference between great work, and pointing out all the mistakes that fellow made.

Those mounts for securing a load aren't sturdy at all, reminds me of a story of a pair of wrecking balls that destroyed an entire town. The wrecking balls weren't secured properly and fell off and ended up flying down the side of the mountain the guy was driving up. He was on the highway so the wrecking balls started with a shot ton of momentum.

At first I thought this was a joke but soon took me back to a company I worked for a few years ago. Has a professional welder on staff. I failed a frame on a nice little KW t 800, from the cab ahead was perfect, frame had extreme rust jacking under the 5th wheel plate. As they had there own collection of scrapped KW's I picked out a frame from a C500 mixer. Double frame not a spot of rust & already had rubber block suspension pattern drilled, marked out where the front cut should be to weld on without having to redrill a hole and left it for the "pro". Got a call a couple days later she was done, went to check... 7 splices between the back of the cab and the hinge for the dump it was to recieve. Straight cut splices on a double frame, last one being a 5" section that came with a hinge on it. The Public Safety fella at the time had a field day. Sometimes a ticket doesn't overcome ignorance and common sense

I had an F250 crew cab with a 12 ft bed about 25 years ago when I worked for Manny, Moe & Jerk. They wanted me to work on it and I went out and looked at it first and told them I refused to lift it unless it would fit on the drive on front-end rack. The took 2 pickups and cut the frames and simply butt welded them together with a 1/4" rectangular plate about the size of a license plate over the inside of the seam. They took 4 ft of front bed and welded it to an 8 ft bed with no front wall and didn't even bother to sand or bondo the weld seam. Anyway I refuse simply because I grew up down the street from a gas station where back in the 70's a tow truck made the same way broke in half when raised and a friend of mine was killed when it fell on him.

good call and by the way its your heavy equipment license on the line and reputation. This is exactly why the diesel or heavy equipment mechanic licenses are getting very hard to pass so people that did this exact job do not touch any tools none,,,,the guy that did this should bot even be allowed to use a lego set yet alone touch Kenworth..thats why a license usualy with profesionals is called A COMPETENT PERSON OR PERSONS

The fix is simple...put another 2x6 on top of the rail and put her back on the road...But make sure that it is pressure treated.

That chassis should have had a flitch plate ie an inner chassis plate fitted on the inside and the cross braces shortened to accommodate that 👍🔨

7 months and probably a lot of money, now still have a useless truck! I have a firm belief that if I don’t know how to do something, I’ll hire a professional that does it for a living!! Take care Mr and Mrs JC Smith!!

It's Absolutely TERRIFYING that the person who did this "work" and the Owner of the Truck We're Fine with it & Were Actually Comfortable Putting this *Death Trap* on the Road!! I Really HOPE YOU REALIZE that YOU LITERALLY *SAVED INNOCENT LIVES* by Being an Honest Moral Ethical Person & Voicing Your Concerns to the Owner!!

I agree but replacing the outer frame right through plus fixings would fix it .Arguably cheaper to slice it odd behind the cab and double/triple up.

There really are people who think this kind of work is acceptable..... they have no experience in engineering or otherwise to have a clue.... they are lucky no one died
