I was at this game with my dad who is a Wake Alumni. It was a crappy rainy day, got soaked, saw an ugly game and I’ve never seen my dad happier.

This ended up being Reggie Ball's last game at GT as well. So on his last play he just gave up and ran out of bounds. Sounds fitting for a four year career that continually got worse and worse. His last two games were a 6 of 22 effort against UGA and 9 of 29 against Wake Forest. I was at this game too, yes on the white and gold side. I wanted to puke at the end. Been waiting for someone to actually analyze and describe how terrible this game was, so thanks for that. You should do a "Worst college career" series with Reggie Ball and Chris Rix as your first videos!

Not a great game, but a great way for Wake Forest to win especially for one of their players named Jon Abbate, who lost his younger brother in a car wreck before the season and was the inspiration for the Fifth Quarter movie.

the ted ginn injury still haunts me. that 2006 osu vs michigan game was the best game i’ve ever watched. osu seemed unstoppable, but urban meyer at florida had other plans lol. his injury wouldn’t have changed the game, but it wouldn’t have been 41-14. probably more like 35-17

I was a freshman at Clemson in the marching band this season, the only reason Wake was in this game is because of Tommy Bowden’s ineptitude. Clemson started 7-1, had beaten Wake and GT, and was ranked in the top ten, but then they lost two of their last three ACC games to miss the ACCCG. As a member of Tiger Band, I attended almost every game that year (except Clemson at Boston College), and Gaines Adams’ fumble return for a TD against Wake and CJ Spiller juking two defenders to score against GT are two plays I’ll always remember. That 2006 Clemson-GT game is also notable as it was the only game of Calvin Johnson’s career (college or pro) where he recorded zero receptions, but-from a Clemson perspective-it was all in service of nothing (going from top ten to unranked, fourth place finish in the division, losing to USC, and a loss to Kentucky in the Music City Bowl).

Clemson's fate was sealed when they lost to Maryland at home - no ACC title possibility after that loss. They had two great running backs in James Davis and CJ Spiller, and some good talent overall, but their QB Will Proctor was mediocre - couldn't throw medium to deep passes, and would get picked off for a TD when he threw one too many screen passes. Clemson would not rise to greatness until Taj Boyd came on board.

GT saw the deep ball fail so many times in this game they decided to wind the clock back and build their program around the (antiquated) triple option offense. Paul Johnson set GT back decades.
