Love Evil Dead. Though the start actually recaps the first three movies, and Bruce Campbell actually voices Ash in every game Ash has a voice. Including the four versions in the new game. It's quite rare

My brother bought this when it was brand new. I told him about the review scores and he cried, and I STILL feel bad about it. We tried playing it for a couple of hours, but it was painfully clear that it was fucking awful. It all worked out though, because I convinced him to trade it in for a copy of Tony Hawks 2, a game he really loved.

I spent the best part of two months convincing my mum to buy this for me when I was 16 and I was too niave to realise it was bad and still have fond memories. I refuse to replay it so my precious memories aren't tarnished.

Sam Remi (director of 2000s Spiderman movies) got his first theatrical film debut with 'Evil Dead' made on essentially a shoestring budget. he and Bruce Campbell were long time friends making their own movies together coming up which was how evil dead began. its probably my favorite movie and series. it doesn't just 'walk the delicate line' of horror/comedy- it struts it stuff walking a la pimp cane krammar style via senfield on it. if you think about it is a difficult task, not funny enough/not scary enough and you got a real plopper.

One of my friends had this when I was a kid. I remember playing part of it and thinking, “not nearly as scary as silent hill” but I wasn’t allowed to have Silent Hill, so we played this and enjoyed it anyway

I remember getting this for the Dreamcast back in the day; I remember thinking this game clearly wanted to be a Resident Evil clone but just didn't commit. If it did, I think it could've been alright.

The later games went in more of an action/third-person shooter direction, and while they still weren’t especially good they were more enjoyable than this one.

Completed this game a few times as a teen on weekends at my dad's. Likely would have given up if I didn't also have the strategy guide at the time lol There are a couple spots like the hedge maze that are a huge pain without a guide. But honestly once you learn the controls and get used to combat, it's a solid PS1 survival horror. On par with RE and SH in my opinion.

Its OK if you want a MP game....Much like the current trend of lets make a garbage MP game using an IP that would actually sell if they did something with a SP game....Evil Dead, Friday the 13th, Ghostbusters, Predator etc. all just garbage MP games that will be dead in less than a year but would have sold amazingly well IF they had made a SP game

I just wish more of my friends were interested. I think that kind of game is always more fun with people you know.

The first movie is The Evil dead The second is just Evil Dead 2, third is The Army of Darkness and the remake/ reboot is Evil Dead. Duke Nukem says things Ash says is because Duke is based off Ash. That wasn't Ash "running on all fours" that was the spirit flying to make people deadites. And he says "Yo She B!tch let's go" in Army of Darkness not "tree." I'm glad it was this one and not Evil Dead: Regeneration or A Fistful of Boomstick.

There is. The controls are a little more complex than say, RE1 but once you learn them the game becomes incredibly easy. You can run past most enemies and you really only end up fighting if you need health or gasoline.

I played it when it first came out, I was already a big fan of the movies since the 1980s, the story was cool, the layout was spot on to the movie, the gameplay was similar to other games of that era like Resident Evil and Tomb Raider, the only thing I hated was gassing up the chainsaw, but after video game emulators came out, I played it again with the unlimited gasoline cheat, and it was better than ever.

I had this game on the DC and it was amazingly faithful to the 2nd and 3rd movies. Every few years I watch a full playthrough. I just wish the good ones were the DC or PC version instead of the crappy PS1.

I will say this. When it comes to the Evil Dead franchise, the first movie is much more horror and gore than comedy. It's a little campy, but it largely treats it as serious. Evil Dead 2 & Army of Darkness are definitely comedy with horror aspects. So, Ben, while I know you're not much of a horror fan, I don't think you would actually have a problem with the original trilogy. Especially the latter two movies.

Bought this game at GameSpot in (I want to say) 1999. It pissed me off so much; one, because the gameplay was awful, and two, because I love Evil Dead and really wanted a good Evil Dead game. At least Bruce is good in it.

I started watching Worst Games Ever / Sh!t Games for Wankers, on Triple Jump. Then, went back and watched the episodes on Vidiots & WhatCulture Gaming. I gotta say, I miss the swearing. As an American, British swearing just elevates British humor, to a degree. Why not just censor it like on WhatCulture? Even Outside Xbox/Xtra do some censored swearing, and I’d consider them fairly squeaky clean.

I really liked the Dreamcast version of this game. Is wasn't nearly as good as Code Veronica, but I had a good time with it. P.S. I don't really believe Ben has ever played any of the original Resident Evil trilogy games or else he'd be much better at playing this...you can really tell he's never played a game with fixed camera angles and tank controls.

Even the Dreamcast Version was bad. But this evil dead was the "middle" one. Not good and bad. The First one on Classic Xbox was very bad. The 3rd Gane was supprising AWSOME! Ah now i remeber! Evil Dead Regeneration was the name of the easy best game with awsome graphics. At least the Xbox and Pc version. An was a lot of fun.

Wrong, this game is awesome, if your an evil dead fan and most people that like video games are this is fun, it is very hard but you’ll learn to farm to get health then never fuel your chainsaw just spam R2 while you use it when it’s empty and it will work as if you had fuel minus the twirl finish but the strength will still increase

Evil Dead 2 is a straight up comedy, and that's why I thoroughly dislike it. The original film is good fun and the third is...insane. Conceptually. But if you stomached the remake you'll be fine with the original movie.
