WORST GTI ISSUE EVER ?! 🤯

2015 Volkswagen GTI “ suction jet pump recall“ . MK7 GTI won’t accept gas. VW GTI stops pumping gas prematurely. I can only pump half a gallon before gas leaks out. Charcoal canister replaced but not assumed the main issue.
Original lpfp part number 5QM-919-051-B
According to vw parts website it fits 2018+ facelift GTI
Replacement LPFP part number 5WA-919-051-P
According to vw parts website it fits 2015-2017 GTI
Replacement complete gas tank part number 5WA-201-055-C
According to vw parts website it fits 2018+ facelift GTI .
So by definition my original pump should fit in the new tank if they are both from facelift GTI 2018 2019 2020 GTI
I need the original pump to fit since it’s an upgraded oem pump which is a walboro 525 “ HELLCAT “ fuel pump . I need this to run E85. Also there’s a gas shortage in my area so I need E

Just got mine. Now we have to wait for the 2nd notice to make a appointment when VW allows repairs. My car is tuned and modified with no warranty. They better honor this.

Mine is tuned as well. From the sound of things they shouldn't need to flash the module.

Happened to my S3, and a ton of people having this issue on the Audi groups, no need to swap the tank, the suction pump takes care of it, but hey, at least you didn’t have to pay…

@@MK6CHRIS Yeah, I have helped 3 people in the group after I had my episode in February, trying to figure out the possible cause, 2 of them had upgraded the lpfp recently, in my case I didn’t have my credit card with me when fueling and apple pay wasn’t working and left the gas station with gas cap off, didn’t realize it until the next day, and the next time I needed to fuel it happened, my theory is opening the gas tank for extended period of time is the possible cause, but who knows.

If the gas tank isn’t puking up gas, could it still cause additional problems dealing with the EVAP system/running lean?

Lol VW makes a new VVT spool valve for the EA888, but conveniently enough you need a new camshaft for the updated spool valve... They do that for a few parts, where one gets updated and whatever its fitted to also gets an update.

I heard about the cam thing but I haven't see an update so big that old common parts don't fit. I'm glad this ended up working out. I want to get the shaft but that prob won't happen

Same thing happened to my '17 GTI except VAG wouldn't honor the warranty. $3,750 later I'm never buying another POS VW again.

I got the notification in the mail 6 months or so after I did the repairs. Everything described in the letter sounded exactly like what happened to me. But when I filled out the form and sent it off it was returned with some lame/confusing explanation about how my problem wasn't exactly like what they were extending the warranty for. - If I had the time I'd continue to hound them, but I don't.. I'm just ready to move on with my life, and never buy another VW. - btw, the GTI was my 21st VW, and I have a '17 Golf SEL in the driveway which was my 22nd VW. Combined, both of those cars have cost me over $13k in the past 12 months. (GTI: evap/gas tank, clutch; SEL: transmission, brake calipers, computer.... both only had a 2 year warranty) - I was a lifer, but never ever again.

That same thing happens to me, actually worse cause they act like they didn’t know what was going on so they start doing other stuff and charge me 1,240.00 and the problem wasn’t fix when i ask them to credit that to the change of a new tank they said that was a different transaction so i end up loosing that 1,240.00, that was on VW Orlando North, they knew what they were doing

Hey fellow VW enthusiasts, I've recently encountered a nerve-wracking issue with my 2015 GTI SE. Picture this: you walk out to your beloved GTI and find a puddle of fuel underneath. Heartbreaking, right? I promptly took it to the dealer, hoping it was a simple fix. But to my surprise, I received a text from the service writer stating the fault lies with the EVAP system due to a defective valve. After doing my own research, I stumbled upon Recall 16V647000, which explicitly states a known safety issue due to a problem with the suction pump in the fuel tank, causing fuel to flow into the evaporative emissions system. Sound familiar? But here's the kicker: VW claims there's no open recall on my GTI. The repair cost is a whopping $3600. I'm baffled! How is it that my car perfectly mirrors the symptoms described in this recall, yet isn't covered? Has anyone else faced this issue? I firmly believe that if this is a recognized problem with VW, they should be accountable for the repair. Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Drive safe, everyone!

The 16V647 recall was the first round for the suction jet pump, which not all cars qualified for (including my late 2016). The newest recall for the suction jet pump is 24V110, which includes 2015 to 2020 Golfs & GTIs. Since your post was 9 months ago, I presume you have since received a recall notice.

Dude how have you done it??? I when to tge dealer and the told me that since my car is tune i wont have access to the extended warranty I have a golf mk7 tsi and i am stage 2 as well...

Happened to me last 2020 i had gas leak good thing it still under warranty except the evap cannister i had to pay $700 something.. now last friday i went fill up gas and pump is clicking manytimes and it was only at $4 till i end up only putting $20 this shit drives me crazy foreal. Tomorrow im going to make appt. to a local vw/audi shop not in the dealer anymore. Lets see what they say. Its a like a love/hate relationship owning this car 😂
