Poor guy, that was rough! So fascinating to get a glimpse of the process. Would they not have covered their faces with a cloth at all?

I don't know, but he said towards the end of the video that he was starting to get used to the smell- perhaps one did get accustomed to it and could gradually become quite comfortable and not retch.

"Worst Jobs in Middle Ages 06 The Fuller" is a Great source of Information about how cloth was made in the Middle Ages. The video is created by Worst Jobs in History Company who are very educated on what they do, but Posted by learnhistory2. This video is very educational, though a bit gross as the people who make the cloth must stomp on it much like grapes, but they use stale urine to soften the wool. The narrator is somewhat humorous. They show you the before and after of the wool and I thought that was really interesting.

Reminds me of the times I had to do some sink plumbing and the pipe was clogged because of food and grease build up. When I finally got to the issue the pipe had that trash in it and it basically turned into poop it made me gag the whole time
