Lightning Pill They made the right choice to not use it but I can see why someone *tried* to get the cartoon sample/circus flow to work in the context of *the movie.* The song is thematically about strength but the movie was playful and cartoonish with its humor and action style. Bottom line, they chose to not use it...which proves to me that they realized that what sounded good in theory ended up being a failed attempt, so they went back to the drawing board. The redo was a success.

Also, it's been rumoured that Part 2 of Independent Women was recorded in 1999 when Farrah was still in the group. Her being removed, plus a combination of the movie studio saying that Pt 2 was "too urban" for mass audiences, is the cause for the switch.

@stewieismyhomeboy
@stewieismyhomeboy 8 жыл бұрын
In the 70s it was about women in law enforcement who were unappreciated at their job, so they left to work for Charlie as private investigators. This could work in the 70s, since this was during the second wave feminism and "sisters doin' it for themselves" era. In the 2000s, when the movies came out, they were supposed to be private investigators, but Lord help me if I can even remember what their cases were in either movie. Like, Crispin Glover was involved, I guess? Idk, the films did not work at a film or a feminist film. Almost all women are a part of the workforce, and sure, we might not always get respected at our work, but we have HR departments to help. The problem we do have is that we are treated less like humans and more like sexual objects, which, the Charlie's Angels movies do nothing to fight against. It's just an endless barage of "what sexy costumes can we get them in".

That's the problem though. KZbin is _filled to the brim_ with people who aren't part of a group, have no empathy for that group, and do not think their arguments through in regards to said group. These people have ruined it for the rest of us. We don't exist in some kind of post-enlightenment period where everyone is acting on good faith, and to act like we are is the ultimate sign of ignorance. Yeah, it might get annoying to see someone tiptoe around certain issues but it's far preferable to the alternative: having to consider braying jackasses as if they are legitimate.

Agreed. Rap Critic is very informed on feminism and the inter workings of it in our society. He hit the nail on the head in this review when talking about "Independent Woman Part 2" (or 1, or whatever it is). I hate that song too. Like, it's awesome that you bought all of that yourself with your own money, but the point you're trying to make gets completely lost when you ask the person (okay, the guy) what he thinks about that/if he's impressed by it. Rap Critic was spot-on in his observation.

I feel like Busta's quality when it comes to songs, at least in actual lyrical sense, just nosedived over the past couple of years. I remember listening to his song Calm Down 3.0 (yes, he made 3 versions of one song.) and he literally just filled an entire stanza with his signature "BLAOW" sound, with the punchine being "blat". I was on the floor for like 5 minutes.

I had that Destiny's Child CD as a kid and Independent Women part 2 always kinda frightened me lol. I know the background music is cartoonish (literally from a cartoon) but it's also tense and off-putting, it sounds like someone's chasing you down a long corridor or something. And it just seemed so out of place with their usual sound too, like if Busta Rhymes used it it would suit his vibe, like the wacky cartoon/Psycho thing he did with Gimme Some More, but Destiny's Child? Such a weird addition to the album that I used to skip as a child cos it just gave me the heebie jeebies 😬

The funny part about the "circus clown music" comparison and the "Did MF DOOM produce this?" gag is that MF DOOM has a song called Fancy Clown, but he didn't even produce it (it was Madlib), and it sounds NOTHING like you'd expect. It does have similar themes to the One Minute Man remix, though, specifically the very ending lines.

The world needs men like you, RapCritic! But I have to say, in Independent Women pt. 2's defence: That was my jam in the first half of 8th grade, so there must be something good about it. Right?

Hey man, watch your channel all the time and I was wondering if you'd ever review and UK rap artists. I think you'd really like Akala, but if you need something with more buzz then I would settle for seeing a Skepta review XD
